Discovered by malware security researcher, Karsten Hahn, CYRON is a ransomware-type virus that stealthily infiltrates systems and encrypts various files. During encryption, it appends ".CYRON" to the name of each file (for example, "sample.jpg" is renamed to "sample.jpg.CYRON").
Following successful encryption, this virus opens a screen-locking pop-up window that blocks access to the desktop and contains a ransom-demand message. The screen-lock disappears after rebooting the system, however, at this point, all files will have been encrypted.

What is Nuclear?
Discovered by Michael Gillespie, Nuclear is a new variant of a ransomware-type virus called BTCWare.
Once infiltrated, Nuclear encrypts various stored files and appends the ".[email].nuclear" extension to the name of associated filenames (for example, "sample.jpg" is renamed to "sample.jpg.[black.world@tuta.io].nuclear"). Following successful encryption, Nuclear opens a pop-up window containing a ransom-demand message.

Shield Defense is a deceptive application that supposedly protects computers from various malware infections and blocks tracking of Internet browsing activity. Judging on appearance alone, Shield Defense may seem legitimate and useful, however, this app infiltrates systems without permission.
Furthermore, it stealthily modifies web browser settings and (despite the above claims) also monitor users' browsing activity. For these reasons, Shield Defense is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and a browser hijacker.
