Trkerrr.net POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is trkerrr.net?
trkerrr.net is identical to other rogue websites on the Internet (such as thepopularlinks.com, ecoencomputer.com, comproliverton.pro, and many more) that redirect users to further untrustworthy sites. Most users are redirected to trkerrr.net by potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that cause these redirects.
PUPs are generally installed without users' consent, deliver various intrusive ads, collect information, and affect computer performance.
When one of these potentially unwanted program is installed, it causes redirects to trkerrr.net, which then causes several (typically 2-3) additional redirects to other untrustworthy websites that often contain malicious content, often resulting in computer infections.
PUPs also deliver intrusive ads (coupons, banners, pop-ups, and so on) that are displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site and conceal underlying content.
Clicking these ads can cause redirects to other untrustworthy websites or even execute scripts designed to download and install potentially unwanted programs (potentially, malware). Furthermore, some potentially unwanted programs, once installed, run background tasks and reduce computer performance.
PUPs also tend to collect information, such as search queries, IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, keystrokes, visited websites, and so on.
This information is often shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) so that developers can generate revenue by delivering the aforementioned ads and causing unwanted redirects. These actions can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Therefore, it is recommended that you uninstall any installed PUPs as soon as possible.

Most potentially unwanted programs are virtually identical and share one purpose: to generate venue for their developers. PUP developers typically offer various "useful" features and tools, however, in most cases, these programs do not provide the functionality promised and deliver no real value for regular users.
How did adware install on my computer?
Potentially unwanted programs can be downloaded from their official websites, however, most users install them inadvertently via a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" or through intrusive ads. Bundling is stealth installation of PUPs with regular software that is ad-supportive (and often free).
Developers hide these bundled programs in "Custom", "Advanced" and other options/settings of the installation processes. These installations are not properly disclosed and thus many users are tricked into installing them inadvertently.
In some cases, potentially unwanted programs are installed when a third party software downloader/installer is used. Developers monetise such downloaders/installers by promoting various potentially unwanted programs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Avoid using third party software downloaders/installers and torrents. Download software using official and trustworthy sources only. Do not skip installation steps without first checking "Custom"/"Advanced" settings. Opt-out all unwanted offers (potentially unwanted programs) and only then finish the installation.
Be cautious when browsing the web - avoid clicking untrustworthy ads, especially when visiting dubious websites. It is difficult to determine if these ads are legitimate, since malicious ad developers invest considerable time and money into their design.
If you happen to click such an ad and are redirected to an untrustworthy website (such as gambling, pornography, adult dating, etc.), close that window or tab immediately and check your browser extensions, plug-ins, and add-ons to see if there are any suspicious entries.
The same applies to programs on your computer. Keep your antivirus software enabled. If your computer is already infected with trkerrr.net, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
