Ecoencomputer.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is ecoencomputer.com?
ecoencomputer.com is a rogue website identical to buzz-track.com, linkingoutnow.online, beteim.com and many other websites of this type.
They redirect users to various other untrustworthy websites. Users often visit sites such as ecoencomputer.com (and other identical sites) inadvertently - they are redirected by Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) that infiltrate systems without consent, cause unwanted redirects, gather information, display intrusive ads, and misuse computer resources.
Once installed, potentially unwanted programs often open new browser windows/tabs and redirect users to ecoencomputer.com, which then causes redirects to other (usually 2-3) untrustworthy websites that might contain malicious content. These redirects can result in high-risk computer infections.
PUPs deliver intrusive (in some cases, malicious) ads such as banners, coupons, pop-ups, etc. These are usually displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site and conceal underlying content. By clicking these ads, users can be redirected to malicious or untrustworthy websites.
It is also possible that one of the clicked ads will execute a script designed to download and install malware or other potentially unwanted programs. This can result in high-risk computer infections. PUPs record user-system data such as visited websites, keystrokes, IP addresses, search queries, geographical locations, etc.
This information is shared with third parties (potentially cyber criminals) so that developers can generate revenue. Some potentially unwanted programs also reduce computer performance by running various background tasks. Clearly, having one installed will cause problems and you are strongly advised to uninstall it immediately.

There are many potentially unwanted programs available. Most offer "useful" features and attempt to give the impression of legitimacy. In fact, they are designed only to generate revenue by deploying ads, etc. They deliver none of the functionality promised or any real value for regular users.
How did adware install on my computer?
Potentially unwanted programs of this type can be downloaded from their official websites, however, they are usually installed through clicked ads or via a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". Bundling is stealth installation of third party programs (such as potentially unwanted programs) with regular software that you download from the Internet.
Developers hide these bundled PUPs in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings/options of the installation processes and usually do not disclose these installations properly.
Developers are aware that many users skip installation steps without checking the above settings, and they take advantage of this situation. This careless behaviour leads to installation of potentially unwanted programs and risks computer infection, privacy issues, and so on.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To avoid installation of these unwanted programs, be cautious when downloading or installing software and browsing the web. Avoid downloading software from untrustworthy websites or using third party downloaders and torrents. Third party downloaders are monetized via the "bundling" method, and therefore these tools should not be used.
Download software from official sources and using directs only. Do not skip installation steps without first checking all available options/settings such as "Custom", "Advanced" (and other similar options/settings). Deselect all additionally-included programs and only then finish software installation.
Bear in mind that intrusive ads usually seem useful and legitimate, however, some might lead to untrustworthy websites (such as gambling, adult dating, pornography, etc.) If you encounter these redirects, immediately close the website and check installed plug-ins, extensions, add-ons, and programs on your browser and computer.
If you find any suspicious entries, remove them immediately. If your computer is already infected with ecoencomputer.com, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
