Ads by Premium Tabs

What is Premium Tabs?
Premium Tabs is a deceptive browser add-on identical to RocketTab. Both of these plug-ins claim to allow users to search the Internet without opening new browser tabs or visiting other websites - "Once you download Premium Tabs for free and install it, you will be able to conveniently search popular local sites without having to open additional windows or tabs, going to multiple sites and then performing the same searches on each of them."
On initial inspection, this functionality may appear legitimate and useful, however, be aware that as with RocketTab, Premium Tabs is also considered to be adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP). The main reasons for these negative associations are stealth installation, Internet browser tracking, and display of intrusive advertisements.
Premium Tabs delivers various advertisements offering third party services. Although these offers might seem harmless, some ads will redirect to untrusted sites, thereby causing further computer infections.
In addition, Premium Tabs continually monitors Internet browsing activity and collects various types of software and hardware information, which is stored on a remote server and might later be shared with third party companies.
The collected information may contain personally identifiable details, and thus, having an information-tracking application such as Premium Tabs installed on your computer could lead to various privacy issues. If you are concerned with your privacy and Internet browsing safety, uninstall Premium Tabs immediately.
Although Premium Tabs is identical to the RocketTab add-on, there are hundreds of applications also very similar, including CrushArcade, LolyKey, Blazer Deals, and Twinkle Star.
All applications claim to enhance the Internet browsing experience in various ways, however, none (including Premium tabs) provide any real value - their purpose is to generate revenue by displaying advertisements and collecting various user/system information.
How did Premium Tabs install on my computer?
As with other adware, Premium Tabs is distributed as a 'bundle' with regular (usually free) software. The developers are aware that most users do not express enough caution when downloading and installing software, and therefore, they intentionally hide installation of bogus apps such as Premium Tab within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings.
Research shows that many users rush the download/installation procedures, skipping most/all steps, thereby inadvertently installing rogue software.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Be cautious when downloading and installing any software. Follow each step of these procedures and decline all offers to download or install additional programs. In addition, the download and installation procedures should be performed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any concealed bogus applications listed for installation and enable you to cancel them.
