Zoola Games removal instructions

What is Zoola Games?

Zoola Games is a deceptive application claiming to allow users to download and play thousands of Flash games - "Zoola Games™ brings the fun to your computer with thousands of free games". On initial inspection, this app may seem legitimate and useful, however, due to its  rogue behavior, Zoola Games is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP). Zoola Games often stealthily infiltrates systems by self-installing without users' permission. Furthermore, after successfully installation, Zoola Games modifies browser settings, displays various types of intrusive online advertisements, and tracks users' Internet browsing activity.

Zoola Games adware

Zoola Games modifies the default search engine and homepage settings by assigning them to the findamo.com website. In doing so, Zoola Games significantly diminishes the Internet browsing experience - when users search the Internet or simply open new tabs, they are automatically redirected to findamo.com. Zoola Games employs a virtual layer to display coupon, search, and other types of advertisements. The virtual layer allows placement of third party graphical content on any site, and therefore, you should be aware that content (ads) displayed by Zoola Games does not originate from the visited website. At first glance, these advertisements may seem harmless and even attractive. In fact, some are indeed harmless and merely redirect to e-commerce websites such as online stores, however, others may redirect to bogus websites containing infectious content (thereby, potentially causing high-risk computer infections). Furthermore, users' Internet browsing activity is continually monitored, since Zoola Games collects various user information and stores it on a remote server. According to the Privacy Policy of this adware, none of the collected information is personally identifiable. These claims are false - collected data such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (to determine users' geolocations), Internet Service Provider (ISP), browser type and data (websites visited, search queries, pages viewed, etc.) might clearly be personally identifiable. These details may be shared with third parties who could misuse it to generate revenue, and thus, having Zoola Games installed on your system can lead to privacy issues. You are strongly advised to uninstall Zoola Games from your system.

Zoola Games Privacy Policy regarding information tracking:

We do not only collect any identifiable information in order to optimize and improve our website.

As with regular adware, Zoola Games shares many similarities with hundreds of other applications of the same type including DealShopSave, Farm Frenzy 2, Shoppingbuddy, and Epic War 2. These apps deliver fake promises to trick users to install. Their purpose is to track personally identifiable information and display intrusive online advertisements to generate revenue for developers. They provide no real value to the user.

How did Zoola Games install on my computer?

Zoola Games has an official download website, however, it is also distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling'. This method allows developers to stealthily install their bogus apps with regular software. Bundling is effective, since many users do not pay enough attention when downloading and installing software. They are often unaware that apps such as Zoola Games are usually hidden within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings. Therefore, by skipping the download/installation procedure steps, they inadvertently install potentially unwanted programs. The amount of revenue is dependent on the number of applications distributed, thus, developers do not properly disclose these installations.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

Your chosen software should be downloaded from the official website. If this is not available, and you must download from a freeware download website, use the direct download link rather than a promoted download app. Most of these sites enforce the use of download apps - in this case, closely analyze each step of the procedure and ensure that no third party software is included. Furthermore, applications should be installed with the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any bundled apps listed for installation and allow you to opt-out.
