DealShopSave removal instructions
What is DealShopSave?
The DealShopSave browser plug-in supposedly saves time and money while shopping online - "The DealShopSave Price Comparison Tool automatically searches for better prices at over 5,000 online retailers and tells you where to get the lowest price for whatever you are about to buy!" Some users may believe that this application is legitimate and useful, however, it is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP). After stealth infiltration on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox), DealShopSave displays intrusive online advertisements and records various user information.
DealShopSave employs a virtual layer to display banner, coupon, price comparison, and other similar ads. The virtual layer allows display of various graphical content on any website visited. Bear in mind that the displayed content does not originate from the visited site. These advertisements hide underlying website content, thereby diminishing the Internet browsing experience and they may also redirect to rogue websites containing infectious content. Therefore, clicking these advertisements can result in further computer infections. Furthermore, DealShopSave continually monitors users' Internet browsing activity and collects various software and hardware information including websites visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other data that might contain personally identifiable information. Since these details are later shared with third parties, having DealShopSave installed on your system can cause privacy issues. We highly recommend that you uninstall this adware immediately.
DealShopSave is just one example among hundreds of other adware-type apps (including Top Deal Master, Shoppingbuddy, and Kellystoys) also offering identical features and falsely claiming to improve the Internet browsing experience (to encourage users to install). These applications provide no real value for users - their purpose is to generate revenue for the developers by displaying intrusive online advertisements and collecting personally identifiable information.
How did DealShopSave install on my computer?
DealShopSave has an official download website, however, it is also distributed as a 'bundle' with other (often free) software. Many users do not pay enough attention during the download and installation processes and are unaware that PUPs are often concealed within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings. Skipping this section can lead to inadvertent installation of bogus applications. Since the amount of developer revenue is dependent on the number of distributed applications, they do not properly disclose these installations.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Software should be downloaded from the official website where possible. If you are downloading from a freeware download website via a download manager, closely analyze each step of the procedure and ensure that only the chosen app is downloaded. Furthermore, programs should be installed with the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any third party software listed for installation and enable you to opt-out.
