What is Price_Less?
Price_Less is a rogue app that supposedly saves time and money while shopping online. Some users may find this functionality legitimate and useful, however, Price Less is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.
As with a previous version called PriceLess, this rogue app is distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling', which allows installation without users' permission. Bundling is a way to install third party apps together with chosen regular software.
Therefore, most users unwillingly install this application together with free software downloadable on freeware download websites. Following infiltration on Internet browsers, Price_Less displays various intrusive online advertisements, rather than the promised coupons.
Some of these ads may redirect to rogue websites containing infectious content - thus, clicking them exposes your computer to risk of infection.
Price_Less tracks users' Internet browsing activity and collects information that might contain personally identifiable details. This gathered information is later shared with third parties, and therefore, having this app installed on your system may cause serious privacy issues or even identity theft.
There are hundreds of bogus applications with similar or identical behavior to Price_Less adware. For example, Shopsafer, Excellent Coupons, and PriceFab also promise identical features (display of coupons, thereby saving time and money). Despite these claims, neither Price Less, nor any of these other apps, provide the features promised.
In fact, they display intrusive online advertisements and share collected data with third parties to generate revenue. You are strongly advised to uninstall Price_Less from your system immediately.
Most popular freeware download websites employ small 'download applications' (also called 'download managers', 'installers', 'download tools', 'download clients', and so on) to monetize their traffic and free services. When downloading free software from sites such as soft32.com, softonic.com, downloads.com, etc, offers to install third party applications pop up.
Although this promoted software is described as 'genuine and virus-free', reckless download and installation of free software often results in adware or malware infections. To avoid this situation, closely analyse the free software download procedure and opt-out of any third party applications included.
Furthermore, installation of downloaded software should be performed with the 'Custom' or 'Advanced options - this will reveal any hidden apps listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you have installed Price_Less, and you observe intrusive advertisements while surfing the Internet, the following instructions will guide you through removal of this rogue app from your system.
