Ads by PriceLess

What is PriceLess?
Produced by two different companies, PriceLess is a rogue browser extension claiming to save time and money by displaying special discounts, deals, and coupons within shopping websites. Although this may seem useful and legitimate functionality, PriceLess is considered to be malware or a virus.
These associations are made since PriceLess employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) without users' consent.
Bundling allows stealth distribution of programs together with other software, and therefore, most infections are caused by reckless download of free software from freeware download websites.
Most current freeware download websites such as download.com, softonic.com, soft32.com, etc., use small programs called 'download clients' to monetize their free services and traffic by offering installation of promoted (according to the developers, '100% legitimate and virus-free') browser plug-ins together with the chosen free software.
Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. Following stealth installation, PriceLess generates intrusive online advertisements (rather than the promised coupons) and diminishes Internet browser performance.
In addition, this extension tracks users' Internet browsing activity by collecting various software and hardware information. This recorded information is likely to be personally identifiable and may cause serious privacy issues or identity theft. Therefore, users are strongly advised to uninstall PriceLess from their Internet browsers.
PriceLess is similar to other potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that use bundling as an installation method. Some examples include: saveX, eDeals, Mezaa, SpeedSave, and smartones.
These browser plug-ins provide little or no value to the user, since their purpose is to generate revenue by dubious methods (displaying ads, diminishing browser performance, tracking users' Internet browsing activity, etc.) Installation of programs such as PriceLess can be prevented by closely inspecting each step of the free software download procedure and declining installation of any additional applications offered.
In addition, software downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options - this will reveal all hidden applications and allow users to decline installation of them. If you experience intrusive online advertisements and feel that PriceLess was installed without your consent, read the removal instructions provided to uninstall this adware from your Internet browsers.
