What kind of application is DynamicAlgorithm?

Our researchers discovered the DynamicAlgorithm rogue app while browsing new submissions to the VirusTotal platform. Upon inspection, we determined that this application is advertising-supported software (adware). DynamicAlgorithm belongs to the AdLoad malware family. Software with this classification aims to generate revenue for its developers through advertising.

DynamicAlgorithm adware

DynamicAlgorithm adware overview

In most cases, adware operates by displaying third-party graphical content (e.g., overlays, pop-ups, coupons, and other ads) on visited websites, desktops, or different interfaces. Advertisements of this kind can promote online scams, unreliable/harmful software, and malware. Some can even execute scripts to perform sneaky downloads/installations upon being clicked.

Note that while genuine products or services may be encountered through these adverts – they are unlikely to be endorsed by any official parties. It is most probable that this endorsement is undertaken by scammers who abuse the promoted content's affiliate programs in order to acquire illegitimate commissions.

Advertising-supported software might need specific conditions to work as intended, such as a compatible browser/system or user geolocation, visits to particular websites, and so on. Regardless of whether DynamicAlgorithm delivers ads – it endangers device integrity and user privacy.

AdLoad apps commonly have browser-hijacking functionalities – however, we did not observe these traits while analyzing the DynamicAlgorithm application.

Additionally, this rogue app might have data-tracking abilities, as they are standard for adware. Collected information may include: visited URLs, viewed pages, searched queries, browser cookies, usernames/passwords, personally identifiable details, credit/debit card numbers, etc. This data may then be monetized via sale to third-parties.

In summary, adware like DynamicAlgorithm is associated with the following risks – system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

Adware examples

DefaultArchive, AnalyzerAccess, ScalableMethod, PrimaryAnalyzer, and DevFrame are a few of our newest articles on Mac-specific adware. Usually, advertising-supported software looks legitimate and offers useful functions. However, these features seldom work as promised, and in most cases – they are completely nonoperational.

It must be stressed that even if an app or a browser extension functions exactly as indicated by its promotional material – that is not definitive proof of either legitimacy or safety.

How did DynamicAlgorithm install on my computer?

Adware is distributed using the bundling marketing method, which involves packing ordinary program installation setups with unwanted/malicious additions. These setups can be downloaded from freeware and free file-hosting websites, P2P sharing networks, and other suspicious sources. The threat of inadvertently permitting bundled content into the system is increased by rushing through installation processes (e.g., using "Easy/Express" settings, etc.).

Additionally, adware is endorsed on legitimate-looking promotional pages and scam sites. Most visitors access these webpages via redirects produced by intrusive ads, websites employing rogue advertising networks, misspelled URLs, spam browser notifications, and adware (with browser force-opening abilities).

Intrusive advertisements also proliferate advertising-supported software. When clicked on, some of these adverts can execute scripts to perform downloads/installations without user consent.

How to avoid installation of adware?

We strongly recommend researching software prior to downloading or purchasing it. Another recommendation is to download only from official and verified channels. When installing, it is essential to read terms, inspect possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opt out of all supplementary apps, extensions, features, etc.

We advise vigilance when browsing since fake and malicious online content usually appears legitimate and innocuous. For example, intrusive ads may look harmless – yet redirect to unreliable and questionable sites (e.g., scam-promoting, gambling, pornography, adult dating, etc.).

In case of continuous encounters with such adverts/redirects, check the system and immediately remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with DynamicAlgorithm, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
