LittleApp Suggestor Adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is LittleApp Suggestor?
LittleApp Suggestor is a browser plug-in that claims to improve the Internet search experience, and although it may seem legitimate and useful, this application is classed as adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
The developers of this bogus application (Little-Apps LLC) employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install LittleApp Suggestor on computers without users' consent.
Bundling is a way to stealthily install additional programs together with regular software, and therefore, most free software downloadable on freeware download websites is delivered together with adware-type apps such as LittleApp Suggestor.
After system infiltration, this bogus browser plug-in generates intrusive online advertisements, and tracks Internet browsing-related information.
LittleApp Suggestor is most likely to display coupon and search type ads that often redirect to unreliable websites containing infectious content, and therefore, clicking on these generated advertisements might lead to high-risk adware or malware infection.
The types of collected data (search queries entered into search engines, websites visited, pages viewed, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, etc.) may contain personally identifiable information, and therefore, the presence of LittleApp Suggestor on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. You are strongly advised to uninstall this PUP from your Internet browsers immediately.
Most adware-type applications have similar or identical behavior to LittleApp Suggestor - they promise to enable a variety of 'useful features' to trick users into installation. BrowserPro App, MySoftToday, Higher Aurum, and SearchFin all claim to improve the Internet browsing experience, however, none provide any real value.
As with regular adware, rather than providing any significant value, LittleApp Suggestor displays intrusive online ads and collects personally identifiable details (which are later shared with third parties) to generate revenue.
Typically, these applications are distributed using small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites such as softonic.com, soft32.com, downloads.com, and many others.
Download clients (also called 'installers', 'download tools', 'download managers', etc.) supposedly ease the download process, however, their purpose is to offer installation of additional programs, thereby monetizing freeware download websites' traffic and free services.
When downloading free software, users are offered installation of third party applications (described as 'genuine and virus-free') via pops-up. Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware exposes the system to risk of adware or malware infections.
This situation can be avoided by closely analysing each step of the free software download procedure and ensuring that no other applications are included.
Furthermore, applications downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any concealed third party apps listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you have installed LittleApp Suggestor, and you observe intrusive online ads, follow this guide to uninstall this PUP from your system.
