Higher Aurum Ads

What is Higher Aurum?
Developed by SuperWeb LLC, Higher Aurum is a deceptive browser extension claiming to enhance the Internet browsing experience by enabling various useful features such as coupons and comparison shopping. Although this functionality may seem legitimate and useful, be aware that Higher Aurum is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.
SuperWeb LLC employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install Higher Aurum on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) without users' permission.
Bundling is a way to stealthily install third party applications together with regular software, and therefore, most users inadvertently install this browser plug-in during download of free software from freeware download websites.
Following successful browser infiltration, Higher Aurum generates intrusive online advertisements. These ads often redirect to rogue websites, and therefore, clicking them may cause further computer infections.
Furthermore, most adware applications, including Higher Aurum, track Internet browsing activity and collect various software and hardware information such as IP addresses (to determine users' geographic locations), websites visited, search queries, pages viewed, etc.
The collected data might contain personally identifiable details, and therefore, information tracking may cause serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Higher Aurum is just one of hundreds of applications developed and released by SuperWeb LLC.
This company releases many identical browser plug-ins (for example, walermis, intense result, tile count, etc.) under different names to avoid detection by legitimate anti-spyware and anti-virus suites. Although they promise to enable useful features, none provide any real value.
Higher Aurum, and many other adware-type apps, are developed simply to generate revenue by the display of ads and sharing collected data with third parties. Therefore, you are strongly advised to uninstall this rogue app from your system immediately.
Close examination of Higher Aurum reveals that it is often distributed via small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites such as softonic.com and soft32.com. Download clients supposedly ease the download process, however, they are merely employed to monetize these websites' free services and traffic by offering installation of additional programs.
The developers claim that these promoted applications are 'legitimate and virus-free', however, most are categorized as adware or malware. These computer infections can be avoided by inspecting each step of the free software download procedure and ensuring that no additional applications are included.
Furthermore, programs downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any bundled apps listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you have installed Higher Aurum, the following instructions will guide you through removal of this adware from your system.
