What is Air Globe?
Air Globe is a bogus application developed by SuperWeb LLC. Although this browser add-on claims to enhance the Internet browsing experience by enabling coupons, comparisons, and other features, it is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) or adware.
This application is distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional programs together with the chose software). Bundling is a way to install applications together with other software, and therefore, most users install this app by not expressing enough caution when downloading free software from freeware download websites.
After successful infiltration on browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox), Air Globe generates intrusive online ads. Banner, pop-up, interstitial, search, and full-page are just some examples of the types of advertisements generated by this adware. There is a high probability that clicking these ads will lead to high-risk adware or malware infections.
Air Globe is also known to track Internet browsing activity by collecting data such as IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, search queries, websites visited, pages viewed, etc. Be aware that some of this information may be personally identifiable, and the behavior of this application can lead to serious privacy issues or identity theft.
SuperWeb LLC has released identical applications under different names to prevent detection by legitimate anti-spyware and anti-virus suites. Some examples are Web United, GrabRez, Wild West, Useful Program, and Nano Surfer.
Neither Air Globe, nor any of these other applications, provide any value for the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online ads and sharing collected data with third parties. For these reasons, Air Globe should be removed from your browsers immediately.
Most adware-type applications are distributed on freeware download websites such as softonic.com, soft32.com, download.com, and many others. These websites employ installers (also called 'download managers', 'download clients', etc.) to monetize their services by offering installation of additional programs together with downloaded free software.
It is stated that these promoted applications are '100% legitimate and virus-free', however, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. This situation can be avoided by closely inspecting each step of the free software download procedure and clicking 'Decline' if installation of any additional programs is offered.
Furthermore, installation of any downloaded programs should be performed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Typical' - this will reveal any additional applications listed for installation and allow you to uncheck them. If you have installed Air Globe, read the following guide and eliminate this browser add-on for your system.
