Nano Surfer Ads

What is Nano Surfer?
Developed and released by SuperWeb LLC, Nano Surfer is a dubious browser extension claiming to improve the Internet browsing experience by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and other similar features. This functionality may seem legitimate and useful, however, be aware that Nano Surfer is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) or adware.
The developers of this rogue plug-in employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install Nano Surfer on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) without users' permission.
Bundling is a way to stealthily distribute applications together with other software, and therefore, most users inadvertently install Nano Surfer when downloading free software from freeware download websites. After successful infiltration, Nano Surfer delivers intrusive online advertisements and tracks users' Internet browsing activity.
Advertisements generated by this PUP include banner, pop-up, search, interstitial, transitional, and full-page ads.
Furthermore, Nano Surfer records various software and hardware information such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (to determine users' geo-locations), unique identifier numbers, URLs visited, search queries entered into search engines, pages viewed, and other details that may be personally identifiable.
Be aware that these generated advertisements may lead to high-risk adware or malware infections and information tracking may cause serious privacy issues or even identity theft. SuperWeb LLC has released several hundred rogue browser extensions identical to Nano Surfer.
For example: Key Shift, SteelCut, Follow Rules, Clock Hand, and Positive Finds. These provide no real value for the user - these browser add-ons are developed to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online advertisements and sharing collected data with third parties.
SuperWeb LLC releases these add-ons under different names to prevent detection by legitimate anti-spyware and anti-virus suites. Therefore, you are strongly advised to uninstall Nano Surfer from your Internet browsers immediately.
Close examination of Nano Surfer reveals that it is distributed via small programs called 'download clients' used by freeware download websites such as soft32.com, download.com, softonic.com, and many others.
Download clients are used by these websites as traffic and free services monetization tools, since they offer installation of promoted (according to the developers, '100% legitimate and virus-free') applications or browser extensions together with the chosen free software. Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections.
To avoid installation of Nano Surfer, or other similar adware, be attentive when downloading free software and never accept installation of any additional programs offered. Furthermore, select the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' options when installing downloaded software - this will reveal any concealed applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them.
If you have installed Nano Surfer, and you observe 'Ads by Nano Surfer', 'Nano Surfer Deals', or 'Powered by Nano Surfer' advertisements when surfing the Internet, read the removal instructions provided and eliminate this adware from your Internet browsers.
