TonOfFunGames Adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is TonOfFunGames?
The TonOfFunGames application is installed on web browsers and is promoted as providing direct access to thousands of free online games.
This app may seem to be a useful tool, however, it is categorized as potentially unwanted application (PUA). TonOfFunGames is an adware-type PUA that users often install inadvertently. Most applications of this type collect data and deliver unwanted advertisements.
When installed, TonOfFunGames deploys intrusive advertisements including coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, and so on. Frequently, these ads are displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site and conceal underlying content, thereby diminishing the browsing experience.
Furthermore, these ads might redirect users to untrustworthy/potentially malicious websites or even execute scripts that download and install potentially unwanted applications. Visiting these websites (or installing PUAs) can result in high-risk computer infections.
In addition, applications such as TonOfFunGames usually gather information such as IP addresses, keystrokes, search queries, URLs of visited websites, geo-locations, etc. PUA developers share this data with third parties (potentially cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue.
Some of the collected data might include personal or sensitive details and, therefore, users might encounter privacy/browsing safety issues or even have their identities stolen. For these reasons, we strongly recommend that you uninstall TonOfFunGames immediately.

TonOfFunGames is very similar (or even identical) to MyKrazyGames, GamesOnlineNetwork, GameFunNetwork and other apps of this type.
All are described as providing 'useful features' (in this case, access to many online games), however, these PUAs are usually designed only to generate revenue and often do not provide the functionality promised. Having these PUAs installed is more likely to cause problems.
How did TonOfFunGames install on my computer?
PUAs such as TonOfFunGames can often be found on their official websites and downloaded from there, however, these applications are more commonly installed by users inadvertently through clicked intrusive ads or when software developers use the "bundling" method.
Bundling is a deceptive marketing method, a way to allow PUAs to be installed together with regular software. Information regarding bundled apps is not properly disclosed, since developers hide PUAs in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings of the installation processes.
Skipping installation steps without checking these settings/options thus often leads to unwanted installations.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent these installations, download software using trustworthy/official sources and direct links only. Do not download software via third party downloaders, torrents, or other similar sources. Install software with care, study each step by checking the "Custom", "Advanced" and other options.
Deselect offers to install additional software and only then finish the installation. Avoid clicking intrusive advertisements, especially when visiting suspicious websites. If you encounter ads that redirect you to gambling, adult dating, pornography, or other similar websites, check your browser for unwanted/unknown applications (extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins) installed.
If you find any, remove them immediately. If your computer is already infected with TonOfFunGames, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
