ZipArcade Adware

What is ZipArcade?

RemindMe Ransomware

What is RemindMe?

RemindMe is a ransomware that encrypts various files stored on victims' computers. At time of research, we were unable to confirm how this virus is distributed, however, cyber criminals often spread RemindMe manually. During encryption, this ransomware appends a .remind (or .xcrypt) extension to the name of each compromised file.

Following this, decypt_your_files.html and decypt_your_files.txt files are placed in each folder containing the encrypted files. These files contain a message stating that the files are encrypted and that the victim must pay a ransom to restore them.

Ads by dotdo

What is dotdo?

Dotdo is an adware-type application distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling', which allows developers to install this app on Internet browsers without users' permission. Bundling is a way to stealthily install additional applications together with regular software.

Therefore, dotdo is often distributed with free software downloadable on freeware download websites. After infiltration on browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox), dotdo tracks users' Internet browsing activity.

This potentially unwanted program (PUP) collects various information such as IP addresses, Internet providers, operating system, search queries entered into search engines, websites visited, pages viewed, and other Internet browsing-related information.

Some of this information may be personally identifiable, and therefore, the presence of dotdo on your system may cause serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Furthermore, as with regular adware, dotdo displays intrusive online advertisements that often redirect to bogus websites, thereby exposing your computer to infection.

Ads by InterStat

What is InterStat?

These associations are made due to a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' employed by InterStat to install on computers without users' consent.

Bundling is a way to stealthily distribute applications together with other software, and therefore, most users inadvertently install InterStat during download of free software from freeware download websites.
