.loptr Ransomware

What is .loptr?

.loptr is a new variant of a ransomware-type virus called Locky and identical to Odin, Zepto, Osiris, and other variants of the same malware. Following infiltration, .loptr encrypts various data using AES-1024 and RSA-2048 cryptographies. This variant also renames encrypted files using the "[8_random_characters]-[4_random_characters]-[4_random_characters]-[8_random_characters]-[12_random_characters].loptr" pattern (for example, "sample.jpg" might be renamed to something similar to "KGA04L3O-GKM4-LG84-10LPHKJ4-MNTLFO49FL04.loptr").
