What is ArcadeRoyal?
ArcadeRoyal is a dubious app that supposedly allows users to play various arcade games. On initial inspection, this app may seem legitimate and useful, however, it is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware. One of the main reasons for these negative associations is stealth installation without users' consent.
In addition, ArcadeRoyal gathers information regarding Internet browsing activity and delivers intrusive online advertisements.
This PUP generates banner, pop-up, coupon, and other similar advertisements. To achieve this, developers employ a 'virtual layer' - a tool that enables placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, the displayed advertisements often conceal underlying content of users' visited websites.
This significantly diminishes the web browsing experience. Furthermore, the ads can redirect to malicious websites - clicking them is likely to result in further high-risk adware or malware infections.
ArcadeRoyal continually gathers various information relating to web browsing activity including IP addresses, websites visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other similar data that might contain personally identifiable information. The developers of ArcadeRoyal share this recorded data with third parties who misuse it to generate revenue.
This can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Therefore, you should uninstall ArcadeRoyal adware immediately.
There are many potentially unwanted programs offering identical functionality to ArcadeRoyal. Examples include ArcadeCake, Jogotempo, and ArcadeCandy. These claims are merely attempts to give the impression legitimate software and to trick users to install. In fact, no adware provides any significant value.
These applications are designed only to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than enabling the functionality promised, ArcadeRoyal, and other similar apps, simply collect personally identifiable information and generate intrusive online advertisements.
How did ArcadeRoyal install on my computer?
ArcadeRoyal is distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of PUPs with regular software.
Many users do not pay enough attention during the download/installation processes - aware of this, developers hide PUPs within the 'Custom/Advanced' settings of these procedures. By skipping this section, users often inadvertently install bogus programs such as ArcadeRoyal.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Potentially unwanted programs are often distributed using the bundling method. Therefore, you should never rush when downloading and installing software. Closely analyze each step and ensure that no third party applications are included. Bundled software is often dubious and, thus, should never be installed.
