Searchtudo.com Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is searchtudo.com?
Searchtudo.com is a deceptive website that claims to be an Internet search engine. On initial inspection, searchtudo.com may seem legitimate, however, this website is promoted using deceptive software 'installers' that stealthily modify web browser settings. Furthermore, searchtudo.com stealthily tracks users' web browsing activity.
When users install dubious apps inadvertently, installer set-ups modify the Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox new tab URL, homepage, and default search engine browser settings by assigning them to nav.brotstation.com. All existing browser shortcuts are also modified - installers add the same URL as an extension to the target.
When users open browsers or new tabs, or simply attempt to search the Internet via the URL bar, they are redirected to nav.brotstation.com, which leads to searchtudo.com. Therefore some users find is difficult to understand why they are redirected to searchtudo.com when none of their browser settings are assigned to this URL.
Be aware that searchtudo.com continually records Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other similar information. Some users may believe this data to be insignificant, however, it might contain personally identifiable details that are shared with third parties and misused to generate revenue.
This behavior can lead to serious privacy issues. If you are continually redirected to searchtudo.com without your consent, uninstall all recently-installed and/or suspicious programs immediately.
Searchtudo.com is similar to many other bogus websites including search.trendingnewtabs.com, search.safefinder.com, search.utilitab.com, and search.holainput.com. Although all may seem legitimate, none improve the web browsing experience. Fake Internet search engines are designed only to generate revenue for the developers.
Rather than providing valuable features, they collect personally identifiable information and cause unwanted browser redirects. Searching the Internet via websites such as searchtudo.com can lead to serious privacy issues or even high-risk computer infections.
How did searchtudo.com install on my computer?
As mentioned previously, searchtudo.com is promoted using dubious software installers. This marketing method is called 'bundling'. Developers hide all details regarding modification of browser settings within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' download/installation section. Many users rush and skip this section, thereby inadvertently allowing set-ups to modify their settings.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
There are two main steps you should take to prevent this situation. Firstly, closely observe the download and installation processes using the 'Custom/Advanced' settings. Secondly, never accept offers to download/install third party applications or allow set-ups to make modifications to your settings that seem irrelevant or suspicious.
