Search.holainput.com Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is search.holainput.com?
HolaInput is a dubious application that supposedly improves Internet searches by generating the most relevant results and enabling text input-prediction functionality.
These claims often trick users into believing that HolaInput is a legitimate program, however, due to rogue behavior, HolaInput is classed as a potentially unwanted browser-hijacking program (PUP). Be aware that HolaInput usually infiltrates systems without users’ consent.
Following successful infiltration, HolaInput stealthily modifies web browser settings and tracks Internet browsing activity.
Once infiltrated, HolaInput assigns the Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox browser default search engine, homepage, and new tab URL browser settings to search.holainput.com. Furthermore, this application is delivered with a number of browser extensions called 'helper objects'.
Both HolaInput and its browser plug-ins reassign browser settings to search.holainput.com when attempts are made to change them. Therefore, users are unable to return browsers to their previous states. This situation leads to continual unwanted browser redirects, significantly diminishing the browsing experience.
In addition, HolaInput collects various information relating to Internet browsing activity including search queries, web URLs visited, and Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (to determine geographic location) - these are just some examples from a long list of data types gathered by HolaInput.
On initial inspection, this information may seem insignificant, however, it might contain personally identifiable details that the developers of HolaInput (Zoekyu Technology) share with third parties. It is highly probable that some of the information will be misused to generate revenue.
Thus, the presence of HolaInput on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. We strongly advise you to uninstall this PUP immediately.
Research shows that browser-hijacking programs have similar characteristics. As with HolaInput, applications such as EasyCurrentNewsAccess, My Social Hub XP, and Your Weather Now also claim to provide a number of 'valuable features' to significantly improve the Internet browsing experience.
These false claims are merely attempts to trick users to install. All browser hijackers are designed only to generate revenue for the developers, and are useless for users. Rather than enabling useful functions, apps such as HolaInput continually monitor web browsing activity, cause unwanted browser redirects, and deliver intrusive content-concealing advertisements.
How did search.holainput.com install on my computer?
HolaInput is free for anyone to download on its official and is also distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of potentially unwanted programs with regular software). For this reason, many users install HolaInput without their consent.
Many users do not pay enough attention during the download/installation processes - aware of this, developers conceal bundled software within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings of these processes. Therefore, skipping this section often leads to inadvertent installation of bogus programs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The key to computer safety is caution. Never rush the download or installation processes. Each step of these processes should be analyzed with caution - use the 'Custom/Advanced' settings and opt-out of all additionally-included programs.
