Browseextended Adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is Browseextended?
Browseextended is a deceptive browser add-on claiming to improve the web browsing experience - "We're passionate about improving web by providing the best tools to enhance the browsing experience, from searching the web to comparing online deals to find the best prices.
We've combined all of our great ideas into the Browseextended product suite, a FREE set of tools that work to make your browsing experience... better!" These false claims often trick users to install - be aware that this program is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.
One of the main reasons for these negative associations is stealth installation - Browseextended infiltrates systems without users’ permission. Furthermore, this adware tracks Internet browsing activity and delivers various intrusive online advertisements.
Once infiltrated, Browseextended collects IP addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, unique identifier numbers, and other similar information relating to web browsing activity.
This data may seem insignificant, however, it might contain personally identifiable details that the developers of Browseextended (SuperWeb LLC) share with third parties, who misuse private data to generate revenue. This can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft.
In addition, Browseextended continually generates intrusive third party online advertisements. These often overlay visited website content, thereby significantly diminishing the Internet browsing experience. In addition, some redirect to malicious websites often containing infectious content - clicking them can cause further computer infections.
For these reasons, you are strongly advised to uninstall Browseextended adware immediately.
Browseextended Privacy Policy statement regarding data collection:
We only share or sell your non-public personal information with non-affiliated third parties when we believe doing so is permitted by you or authorized by this Privacy Policy. In addition, the Company may share your personal information with our parent, subsidiary or affiliate companies without restriction.
The developers of Browseextended have released several hundred identical potentially unwanted programs including, for example, Oasis Space, Nicer Together, and Cash Kitten. All offer identical features, however, none provide the functionality promised.
All adware by SuperWeb LLC is designed only to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than improving the Internet browsing experience, these applications collect personally identifiable information and generate intrusive online advertisements.
How did Browseextended install on my computer?
Browseextended is distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of potentially unwanted programs with regular software/apps. Research shows that many users do not pay enough attention when downloading and installing software.
For this reason, developers conceal bundled programs within the 'Custom/Advanced' settings of these processes. Unaware of this, users rush the download and installation processes, often leading to inadvertent installation of dubious applications.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Most adware is distributed as a 'bundle' with other programs. For this reason, it is important to closely analyze each step of the download/installation procedures. Use the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings and opt-out of all hidden additional programs.
