What are "From Around The Web" ads?
'From Around The Web' ads are intrusive advertisements caused by various potentially unwanted applications that falsely claim to improve the Internet browsing experience.
This type of adware often infiltrates systems without users’ permission and generates various intrusive online advertisements (in this case, marked as 'From Around The Web'). For these reasons, you are strongly advised to eliminate all adware and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) from your computer.
Intrusive online advertisements (pop-ups, coupons, banners, etc.) are displayed using a 'virtual layer' and conceal underlying website content, thereby significantly diminishing the Internet browsing experience. In addition, some of the displayed advertisements lead to dubious websites containing infectious content - clicking them can result in further high-risk adware or malware infections.
In addition, From Around The Web adware continually monitors browsing activity by gathering Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries entered into search engines, and other similar information. Some of this collected data might be personally identifiable and shared by developers of this PUP with third parties.
These parties often misuse private data to generate revenue. Thus, data tracking can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. We strongly advise you to uninstall this PUP immediately.
Research shows that there are hundreds of potentially unwanted programs/adware causing 'From Around The Web' ads including, for example, OneSoftPerDay, Screen Maker, Innovate Direct, and Cash Kitten. By falsely claiming to enhance the Internet browsing experience, these programs often trick users into believing that they are legitimate.
In fact, the only purpose of adware is to generate revenue for the developers. These applications deliver no real value for users - adware-type programs cause unwanted browser redirects, track Internet browsing activity, and continually generate intrusive online advertisements.
How did adware install on my computer?
Potentially unwanted applications are usually distributed as a 'bundle' with other applications. Developers hide potentially unwanted programs within the 'Custom/Advanced' download or installation settings, since many users do not pay enough attention during these processes.
Most users rush the download/installation procedures and skip most/all steps, thereby exposing their systems to risk of various infections.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent installation of adware-type programs, closely analyze each download/installation process. Select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings and follow each step. Furthermore, cancel all additional programs listed for download or installation, since bundled software is mostly rogue.
