What is Elements Peruse?
Created by SuperWeb LLC, Elements Peruse falsely claims to enhance the Internet browsing experience - "We're passionate about improving web by providing the best tools to enhance the browsing experience, from searching the web to comparing online deals to find the best prices.
We've combined all of our great ideas into the Elements Peruse product suite, a FREE set of tools that work to make your browsing experience... better!" By giving these fake promises, Elements Peruse often tricks users into believing that this app is legitimate. In fact, it is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
There are several reasons for these negative associations. Firstly, this app often infiltrates systems without users’ permission. In addition, Elements Peruse generates intrusive online advertisements and tracks Internet browsing activity.
Elements Peruse generates interstitial, transitional, full-page, pop-up, coupon, banner, full-page, and other similar intrusive ads. All are displayed using a 'virtual layer' and, thus, visited website content is often concealed. This significantly diminishes the Internet browsing experience.
Furthermore, the displayed advertisements can lead to malicious websites - clicking them is risky and could lead to further high-risk computer infections. In addition, Internet browsing activity is continually monitored, since Elements Peruse gathers unique identifier numbers, IP addresses, websites visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other similar information.
This data might be personally identifiable and shared by SuperWeb LLC with third parties who often misuse private information to generate revenue. Therefore, the presence of Elements Peruse on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. We strongly recommend that you uninstall this PUP immediately.
Elements Peruse Privacy Policy statement regarding data collection:
We only share or sell your non-public personal information with non-affiliated third parties when we believe doing so is permitted by you or authorized by this Privacy Policy. In addition, the Company may share your personal information with our parent, subsidiary or affiliate companies without restriction.
Elements Peruse is identical to Native Info, Pass and Play, Facts Right, and hundreds of other PUPs developed by this company.
SuperWeb LLC intentionally releases identical apps under different names to prevent detection by anti-spyware and anti-virus suites. Elements Peruse, and other apps developed by this company, are designed solely to generate revenue and provide no real value for users. These apps merely display intrusive online advertisements and track Internet browsing activity.
How did Elements Peruse install on my computer?
Developers employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of PUPs with regular software. Users often do not pay enough attention during the download and installation processes. Aware of this, developers intentionally conceal bundled software within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings.
By rushing the download and installation processes, and skipping most/all steps, users often install bogus software inadvertently. Developers' revenue is dependent on the number of PUPs distributed and, therefore, developers fail to disclose rogue installations.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Installation of PUPs can be prevented by closely observing the download and installation processes, and opting-out all bundled software - analyze each step using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings and cancel all additionally-included programs.
