What is BestDeal?
The BestDeal application supposedly provides coupons, notifies users of special deals/discounts on various online stores, enables comparison shopping, and other similar features, thereby helping to save time and money while shopping online.
These claims might trick some users into believing that BestDeal is a legitimate app, however, it is categorized as an adware-type potentially unwanted program (PUP).
The reason for these negative associations is BestDeal's rogue behavior, which includes stealth installation without users' consent, tracking of personally identifiable data, and display of intrusive online advertisements.
This app generates pop-up, coupon, banner, and other similar intrusive online ads. To achieve this, developers of BestDeal employ a 'virtual layer' - a tool that enables placement of third party graphical content on any websites visited.
The appearance of ads delivered by BestDeal is identical to regular ads and, thus, many users are unaware that they not originate from their visited websites. By generating content-concealing advertisements, BestDeal significantly diminishes the Internet browsing experience.
Furthermore, some may lead to malicious sites. Accidental clicks can, therefore, result in high-risk adware or malware infections. Users' Internet browsing activity is continually monitored, since BestDeal gathers various information that may be personally identifiable.
The developers of BestDeal later share collected information with third parties who misuse personal data to generate revenue. Therefore, the presence of an information tracking app on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. If you are concerned with your privacy and Internet browsing safety, uninstall BestDeal adware immediately.
There are hundreds of PUPs virtually identical to BestDeal including, for instance, FrameFox Shop, Preispilot, and eDealMan. All claim to improve the Internet browsing experience, however, none provide users with any real value.
These apps are created to generate revenue for the developers. Their purpose is to display intrusive advertisements and track users' Internet browsing activity.
How did BestDeal install on my computer?
The developers employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of third party applications with regular software/apps) and, for this reason, many users install BestDeal inadvertently. Developers hide bundled software within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings.
Many users do not express enough caution during the download/installation processes - they rush these processes and skip most/all steps. This behavior often leads to inadvertent installation of potentially unwanted programs such as BestDeal.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Installation of adware-type programs can be prevented by carefully analyzing each step of the free software download and installation processes. Select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings, rather than 'Quick' or 'Typical', otherwise you will be unable to see additionally-included apps and cancel them.
