What is AmazingTab?

AmazingTab is a deceptive browser extension that supposedly allows users to customize new browser tabs - "AmazingTab is a metro style Chrome new tab page, which organize all your favourite links in one place. Customize wallpaper, arrange your favorite links in groups and enjoy our recommended apps." 

Some users may believe that this plug-in is legitimate and useful, however, AmazingTab is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP). Following successful infiltration without users' permission, AmazingTab tracks Internet browsing activity and displays intrusive advertisements.

This PUP generates pop-up, banner, and other similar intrusive online advertisements. The appearance of these ads is similar or identical to regular software/apps, however, some redirect to malicious sites. Clicking them is risky and may cause further adware or malware infections.

In addition, AmazingTab employs a 'virtual layer' (a tool allowing developers to place third party graphical content on any website visited). Many users are unaware that the ads do not originate from their visited sites. By concealing underlying content, they diminish the Internet browsing experience.
