What is QuickyTranslator?
QuickyTranslator is a deceptive adware-type program that (according to the developers) improves the Internet browsing experience by generating search results in various languages - "QuickyTranslator is a simple Software that allows you to get the Exact Results for your Search in one click in visualized & friendly interface. You'll find the words that you are looking from E Language."
This application may seem useful, however, due to its rogue behavior, QuickyTranslator is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). After stealthily infiltrating the system, this adware generates intrusive advertisements and tracks users' Internet browsing activity.
Types of data collected by QuickyTranslator include (but are not limited to) Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, Internet service provider (ISP), browser type, and browsing information (web beacons, cookies, URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, etc.) Some users may believe that this information is insignificant, however, it might contain personally identifiable information including geographic location, activity on visited pages, PayPal or bank account logins/passwords, and so on.
Furthermore, these details may be shared with third parties who likely to misuse private information to generate revenue. For this reason, having an information-tracking app installed can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft.
In addition, QuickyTranslator generates advertisements that might redirect to infectious websites - clicking them is risky and will result in further computer infections. All are delivered using 'virtual layer' (a tool allowing developers to place graphical content on users' visited websites).
By overlaying web page content, the displayed ads significantly diminish the Internet browsing experience. If you are concerned with your privacy and Internet browsing safety, uninstall QuickyTranslator immediately.
QuickyTranslator Privacy Policy regarding data sharing:
QuickyTranslator may use certain trusted third party companies and individuals to help it provide, analyze and improve the Site and service (including but not limited to data storage, maintenance services, database management, web analytics, information processing and improvement of the Site's features and services. These third parties may have access to your information only for purposes of performing these tasks on behalf of QuickyTranslator and under obligations similar to those in this Privacy Policy.
Research shows that QuickyTranslator shares many similarities with other adware-type programs such as Outrageous Deal, Search Know, Qword Browser, and TheBrowser.
These also falsely claim to enhance the Internet browsing experience. Rather providing any real value, however, adware-type apps generate intrusive online advertisements and collect personally identifiable information - they are developed only to generate revenue for the developers.
How did QuickyTranslator install on my computer?
The developers (CrossMedia) distribute QuickyTranslator using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of third party applications with regular software/apps. They are aware that many users do not pay enough attention during the download and installation processes.
For this reason, developers hide QuickyTranslator within the 'Custom/Advanced' settings. By skipping this section, users expose their systems to risk of infection and often install potentially unwanted programs inadvertently.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Only by closely analyzing the download and installation processes will you be able to protect your computer from adware-type infections. Use the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings during these processes, since most bundled software is concealed. This third party software is mostly bogus - decline all offers to install.
