SwytShop Ads

What is SwytShop?
According to the developers, SwytShop saves time and money by finding the best deals available within online stores - "With Swytshop, you’ll always find the lowest price for any product you’re looking for online – all automatically, all while you’re shopping.
Gone are the days of wasting time comparing prices manually, leave it to Swytshop to save you expenses and trouble!" These fake promises often tempt users to install. Be aware, however, that SwytShop is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
Following successful installation, SwytShop generates intrusive advertisements and collects information relating to users' Internet browsing activity.
Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, and geographic location are just some examples of data types recorded by SwytShop. All information (some of which may be personally identifiable) is later shared with cooperating third party companies who can misuse it to generate revenue.
Thus, the presence of SwytShop adware on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. SwytShop employs a virtual layer to display coupon, pop-up, and other similar ads. Advertisements generated by this tool do not originate from users' visited websites and conceal underlying web content.
In addition, some redirect to rogue websites containing infectious content, thereby significantly diminishing the Internet browsing experience and potentially causing adware or malware infections when clicked. We strongly recommend that you uninstall SwytShop immediately.
SwytShop Privacy Policy regarding data sharing with third parties:
By using our SWYTSHOP services, you approve our sharing or transferring of information, including Personal Information, internally, within our group of companies. Non-Personal Information may be shared with third parties, in order to provide, maintain or improve our services and operation. Third parties can better provide you with offers you may be interested in.
SwytShop shares many similarities with PriceFountain, FirstOffer, PopDeals, and other applications claiming to save time and money. Be aware that adware-type applications promise to enable useful functionality simply to trick users to install.
Once installed, these apps provide no real value for users - they generate revenue for the developers by displaying advertisements (via the 'Pay Per Click [PPC] advertising model) and collecting personally identifiable information (which is later sold to third party companies).
How did SwytShop install on my computer?
SwytShop is free for anyone to download on its official website. It is also distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of PUPs with the chosen software/apps. Many users are unaware that developers conceal bundled applications within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings.
By skipping this section, users often inadvertently install SwytShop and other similar programs. The developers are concerned only with the amount of revenue generated (which is dependent on the number of apps distributed), and thus, do not properly disclose installation of PUPs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Only by paying close attention during the download and installation processes will you be able to protect your system from adware-type infections. Select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options when downloading and installing software, opting-out of any third party applications listed for download and/or installation. Closely analyze these processes to avoid system infections.
