Ads by Chaos

What is Chaos?
Chaos is an adware application that infiltrate systems without users' consent. Some users may believe this application is harmless, however, Chaos is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP). Following successful infiltration, Chaos displays intrusive online ads (usually marked as 'ads by Chaos') and collects various Internet browsing-related information.
The advertisement types displayed by Chaos include banner and pop-up, which do not originate from the visited website and conceal underlying content. In doing so, Chaos adware significantly diminishes the Internet browsing experience, since users need to continually avoid clicking the displayed ads.
Furthermore, some ads may redirect to rogue sites containing infectious content, and thus, clicking them can lead to further computer infections.
As with regular adware, Chaos may collect personally identifiable information and share it with third parties. Therefore, having this software installed on your computer can result in privacy issues. For these reasons, you are strongly advised to uninstall this adware from your system.
Adware applications generally have similar characteristics, and Chaos is no exception. For instance, KrShop, Tortuga, DeskBar, and Unfollow Alert also infiltrate systems without users' permission.
All adware promises to enable different features that will improve the Internet browsing experience, and yet, rather than providing any significant value, these apps display intrusive online ads and collect personally identifiable information to generate revenue for the developers.
How did Chaos install on my computer?
Adware-type applications are likely to be distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of third party apps with regular software).
Thus, they often infiltrate systems without users' permission. Users often do not express enough caution when downloading and installing software - they rush the processes and skip the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' section, where PUPs are usually hidden. In this way, they expose their systems to risk of infection.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Pay close attention during download and installation of software. Never skip any steps, closely observe these two procedures, and decline all offers to download or install third party applications. Use the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any bundled third party applications listed for installation and enable you to cancel them.
