Ads by rinkela

What is rinkela?
rinkela is a deceptive browser extension claiming to enhance the online shopping experience by displaying coupons, enabling comparison shopping, and other similar features
- "We're passionate about improving web by providing the best tools to enhance the browsing experience, from searching the web to comparing online deals to find the best prices. We've combined all of our great ideas into the rinkela product suite, a FREE set of tools that work to make your browsing experience... better!"
Some users may find this functionality legitimate, however, this add-on is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware. rinkela infiltrates the system without users' consent, displays intrusive online advertisements, and tracks Internet browsing activity.
This rogue application displays various intrusive online ads including (but not limited to) banner, pop-up, interstitial, transitional, search, coupon, and full-page ads. To achieve this, the developers of rinkela (SuperWeb LLC) employ a virtual layer, which enables placement of various graphical content that does not originate from the visited websites.
Additionally, some of these ads open new browser tabs/windows, thereby increasing the chance of accidental user clicks. Furthermore, users' Internet browsing activity is continually monitored as rinkela collects various software and hardware information including Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, websites visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other collected data.
This data might contain personally identifiable details that is later shared with third parties and subsequently used to generate revenue. This situation can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. We strongly recommend that you uninstall rinkela adware.
Rinkela Privacy Policy statement regarding data collection:
We only share or sell your non-public personal information with non-affiliated third parties when we believe doing so is permitted by you or authorized by this Privacy Policy. In addition, the Company may share your personal information with our parent, subsidiary or affiliate companies without restriction.
The developers of rinkela have released several hundred browser extensions under different names to prevent legitimate anti-spyware and anti-virus suites from detecting these bogus plug-ins. Gravity Space, Wander Burst, Swift Record, and other PUPs developed by SuperWeb LLC offer identical features to rinkela adware.
None deliver the functionality promised. Rather than providing any real value for users, these applications generate revenue for the developers by displaying advertisements and sharing collected data with third parties.
How did rinkela install on my computer?
As with most other adware developed by SuperWeb LLC, rinkela is distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling'. This method allows system infiltration during installation of regular applications, and since many users do not pay enough attention when downloading and installing software, it is very effective.
Users are often unaware that bogus applications are concealed within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation settings - by rushing the download and installation procedures, they inadvertently install PUPs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
There are two main steps you should take to prevent computer infections of this kind. Firstly, closely inspect each step of the free software download procedure and decline all offers to install additional programs. Secondly, each program should be installed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to opt-out.
