What is power app?
The deceptive browser extension, power app, installs on Internet browsers without users' permission and is is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
This adware is distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling', which allows developers to stealthily install rogue applications/browser add-ons such as power app together with various (mostly free) software.
Following infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, power app tracks users' Internet browsing activity and displays intrusive online advertisements.
The types of collected data include search queries entered into the search engines, website URLs visited, pages viewed, cookies, IP addresses, and so on.
Some of this collected information may be personally identifiable, and since the developers of this application (Object Browser) share these details with third parties, the presence of power app on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft.
In addition, generated advertisements (including in-text, pop-up/under, search, interstitial, etc.) displayed by this PUP might lead to untrusted websites, thereby causing further high-risk computer infections. Many adware-type browser extensions have similar or identical characteristics.
As with power app, GeniusBox, Local Temperature, Bubble Dock, PastaLeads, and MVPlayer are also distributed using the bundling method. Although these apps are presented as legitimate tools that will provide useful features, they deliver no real value to the user.
Adware applications are developed to display advertisements and share collected data with third parties to generate revenue. Therefore, you are strongly advised to uninstall power app from your system immediately.
Browser plug-ins such as power app are often distributed via small programs called 'download clients' used by freeware download websites such as softonic.com, soft32.com, and downloads.com. Download clients are used to monetize these sites' traffic and free services by encouraging installation of additional applications together with the chosen software.
Assurances are made that the promoted apps are 'genuine and virus-free', however, most are considered to be adware or malware. To avoid this type of computer infection, closely analyse each step of the free software download procedure and opt-out any bundled applications.
Furthermore, use the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options when installing downloaded software - this will reveal any concealed third party applications listed for installation and allow you to cancel them. If you have installed power app, read the removal instructions provided below and uninstall this adware.
