Surprise Savings Adware

What is SurpriseSavings?
The SurpriseSavings browser plug-in is presented as a tool to significantly improve the online shopping experience by enabling features such as coupons, comparison shopping, and the display of special deals/discounts available on shopping websites.
Despite these claims, users are often tricked into believing that this browser plug-in is legitimate and virus-free, however, SurpriseSavings is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.
The main reason for these negative associations is a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' employed by the developers to distribute SurpriseSavings. Bundling allows stealth installation of SurpriseSavings on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) together with regular software.
Therefore, most users inadvertently install this bogus extension. After successful infiltration, various intrusive online advertisements are displayed and users' Internet browsing activity is tracked.
SurpriseSavings displays a number of advertisement types including pop-up, banner, and in-text. These generated ads can redirect to bogus websites, and therefore, clicking them may lead to high-risk adware or malware infections.
Furthermore, SurpriseSavings gathers the following types of information: Internet Protocol (IP) and MAC addresses, websites visited, search queries entered into the search engines, location and language details, ads clicked, etc.
Some of this collected information may be personally identifiable, and therefore, the behavior of this plug-in might result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft. SurpriseSavings is typical adware and similar to many other applications of the same type including MarkingApp, Excellent Coupons, Halt-It, and PriceFab (these are just some examples from a long list).
They offer identical features, however, none (including the SurpriseSavings) provide any real value. In fact, these apps generate intrusive ads and share collected data with third parties to generate revenue. You are strongly advised to uninstall SurpriseSavings adware from your system immediately.
Dubious apps such as SurpriseSavings are often installed when users do not pay enough attention during download and installation of freeware. Most of adware types are distributed via small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites such as download.com, soft32.com, and softonic.com.
Download clients monetize their traffic and free services by offering installation of additional programs together with the chosen free software. The developers make assurances that these promoted apps are 'genuine and virus-free', however, they are likely to be adware or malware.
To avoid this situation, analyse each step of the free software download procedure to ensure that only the chosen application is installed.
Furthermore, the freeware installation procedure should be performed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. The following instructions will guide you through removal of SurpriseSavings from your system.
