Information Cloud Ads

What is Information Cloud?
Information Cloud is a rogue browser extension claiming to improve the Internet browsing experience by enabling features such as coupons and comparison shopping. This add-on may seem legitimate and useful, however, it is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
The developers of this adware (SuperWeb LLC) employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional programs together with the chosen software) to install Information Cloud on Internet browsers without users' permission.
Once successfully installed on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, Information Cloud generates various intrusive online advertisements such as search, banner, interstitial, pop-up, full-page, and transitional ads. There is a high probability that clicking these advertisements may cause further high-risk adware or malware infections.
As with other applications developed by SuperWeb LLC, Information Cloud records IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, websites visited, pages viewed, search queries entered into search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.), and other information that may be personally identifiable. Information tracking can result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft.
The developers of this rogue app have released several hundred identical PUPs including Information Cloud. Some examples are First Color, Coupons Free, Checked List, and Screen Boost. These apps are released under different names by SuperWeb LLC to avoid detection by legitimate anti-virus and anti-spyware suites.
Neither Information Cloud, nor any of these other apps, are useful to the user - their purpose aim is to generate revenue by the display of ads and sharing collected information with third parties. You are strongly advised to eliminate Information Cloud adware from your system immediately.
Research shows that most PUPs such as Information Cloud are distributed via small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites including download.com, soft32.com, and softonic.com. Download clients are used to monetize these websites' free services and traffic by offering installation of additional programs together with the chosen software.
According to the developers, these promoted applications are '100% legitimate and virus-free', however, most are categorized as adware or malware infections. To avoid installation of bogus applications, closely analyse each step of the freeware download procedure and decline any offers to install third party apps.
Furthermore, software downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any rogue applications listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you have installed Information Cloud, the following removal guide will help you to remove this adware from your system.
