Screen Boost Ads

What is Screen Boost?
Developed and released by SuperWeb LLC, Screen Boost is a bogus browser extension claiming to improve the Internet browsing experience by enabling various features such as coupons and comparison shopping. On initial inspection, this functionality may seem legitimate and useful, however, be aware that Screen Boost is classed as adware.
The developers of this plug-in employ a deceptive free software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of third-party programs together with the chosen software) to install Screen Boost on Internet browsers without users' permission.
This rogue app infiltrates Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, and then generates intrusive online advertisements. These generated ads (for example, banner, search, pop-up, interstitial, transitional, full-page, etc.) often redirect to bogus websites, and therefore, clicking them exposes your computer to risk of infection.
Close examination of Screen Boost shows that it also monitors users' Internet browsing activity and collects various software and hardware information including IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, search queries, websites visited, and pages viewed.
This information may be personally identifiable, and therefore, the presence of Screen Boost on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or identity theft. The developers of this potentially unwanted program (PUP) have released hundreds of identical browser plug-ins including Price Clip, FlippyRoo, and Blue Bulletin.
No applications developed by this company provide any real value for the user. The purpose of Screen Boost is to generate revenue by the display of ads and sharing collected data with third parties, and for this reason, it should be uninstalled from your system immediately.
Today, most popular freeware download websites such as softonic.com, soft32.com, and download.com, monetize their traffic and free services via small programs called 'download clients' (also called 'installers', 'download managers', etc.)
Download clients supposedly ease the free software download process, however, they simply offer installation of third-party applications, or even hide them under the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' options. These applications are often described as legitimate, however, most are adware or malware.
These infections can be prevented by closely inspecting each step of the free software download procedure and never accepting offers to install additional programs.
Furthermore, downloaded applications should be installed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any bundled software listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you have installed Screen Boost, the following guide will help you to remove this adware from your system.
