Ads by Checked List

What is Checked List?
Checked List is an adware-type browser add-on created by SuperWeb LLC. Although presented as a legitimate and useful application, which will supposedly improve the Internet browsing experience, it is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
One reason for this negative association is a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of third party applications without users' knowledge) employed by the developers to distribute this adware. Checked List infiltrates Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox and then displays intrusive online advertisements.
These generated advertisements include, but are not limited to, search, interstitial, pop-up, transitional, banner, pop-up, and full-page ads. Clicking these ads might redirect you to bogus websites, thus leading to computer infection.
Be aware that Checked List adware continually tracks and records various software and hardware information that may include personally identifiable data. For example, IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries entered, and other similar information.
This information tracking can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. SuperWeb LLC has released several hundred rogue browser plug-ins identical to Checked List. Examples include Flying Deals, Screen Boost, Price Clip, Shopymate, and Blue Bulletin.
These applications are developed to generate revenue by the display of ads and sharing collected data with third parties and provide no significant value to the user. Therefore, you are strongly advised to eliminate Checked List adware from your system immediately.
As with other regular adware, Checked List is mostly distributed via small programs called 'download clients' (also called 'installers', 'download managers', etc.) on freeware download websites such as download.com, soft32.com, and softonic.com.
Download clients are employed to monetize these websites' traffic and free services by offering installation of third party applications together with the chosen free software - often hiding installation under the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' options. Commonly, these third party applications are described as '100% legitimate and virus-free', however, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections.
You can avoid this situation by closely analysing each step of the free software download procedure and never accepting offers to install additional programs. Furthermore, applications downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any concealed applications listed for installation and allow you to opt-out.
If you have installed Checked List adware, and you observe 'Ads by Checked List', 'Checked List Deals', and 'Powered by Checked List' advertisements when surfing the Internet, follow the removal instructions provided below to eliminate this PUP from your Internet browsers.
