Water Plant Adware

What is Water Plant?
Water Plant is adware created by SuperWeb LLC. This application claims to enhance the Internet browsing experience by enabling comparison shopping, coupons, and other similar features. Although this browser extension may seem legitimate, it is categorized as adware.
Water Plant is mostly distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of additional apps together with the chosen software. After successful installation on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox without users' permission, Water Plant generates intrusive online advertisements and tracks users' Internet browsing activity.
These generated advertisements include search, banner, pop-up, interstitial, transitional, and full-page ads. It is highly probable that clicking these advertisements will cause further high-risk adware or malware infections.
Furthermore, Water Plant collects various software and hardware information such as IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, websites visited, search queries entered into search engines, pages viewed, etc. This recorded information may include personally identifiable data, and therefore, the presence of this adware on your system can lead to serious privacy issues.
The developers of this rogue add-on have released several hundred adware-type apps identical to Water Plant including, for instance, Digital More, Dolphin Deals, goinggo, Browse Pulse, and Fragile Fixer.
Be aware that extensions released by SuperWeb LLC provide no significant value for the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive ads and sharing collected data with third parties. For these reasons, Water Plant should be uninstalled from your system immediately.
Research shows that most adware applications (including Water Plant) are distributed via small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites such as download.com, soft32.com, and softonic.com.
Download clients are employed to monetize these websites' traffic and free services by offering installation of promoted (according to the developers, '100% legitimate') apps or browser extensions together with the chosen free software. Despite these claims, most of these promoted applications are categorized as adware or malware.
To avoid such infections, closely inspect each step of the free software download procedure to ensure that no other applications are included.
Furthermore, downloaded programs should be installed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' options - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you have installed Water Plant, the following removal guide will help you to eliminate this adware from your system.
