What is Deals Finder?
Created by Savver Mobile Inc, Deals Finder is a rogue application that claims to save time and money by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and displaying special deals/discounts on shopping websites. Despite these claims, be aware that Deals Finder is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted program.
Deals Finder employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install on Internet Browsers. Bundling allows system infiltration during installation of other software. Following successful infiltration, this PUP generates intrusive online ads and tracks users' Internet browsing activity.
Advertisements generated include (but are not limited to) coupon, banner, pop-up, and price comparison ads. Clicking these advertisements is likely to cause further computer infections.
Additionally, tracked information (Internet Protocol [IP] addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, browser type, operating system, language, cookies, etc.) may be personally identifiable - this behavior may result in serious privacy issues or identity theft.
There are many applications with similar behavior to Deals Finder. Examples include DragonCoupon, SlimPrice, and Clicon.
Although these applications claim to enable certain features, none are useful to the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online advertisements and sharing collected data with third parties. For these reasons, you are strongly advised to uninstall this adware from your Internet browsers.
Close examination of Deals Finder reveals that it is mostly distributed using small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites such as softonic.com, soft32.com, and download.com. These websites employ download managers to monetize their free services and traffic by offering installation of additional programs together with the chosen free software.
The developers of these promoted applications state that they are '100% legitimate and virus-free', however, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. To avoid installation of Deals Finder, or other similar adware, closely observe each step of the free software download process and opt-out of any additional applications offered.
Furthermore, if you are installing downloaded software, select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them. If your computer has been infected with Deals Finder, follow this removal guide to eliminate this application from your Internet browsers.
