BlockIt ads

What is BlockIt?
The BlockIt browser add-on claims to prevent children from visiting websites containing adult content. Although this software may seem legitimate, be aware that it is categorized as a potentially unwanted application or adware.
BlockIt add-on was developed by Revizer Technologies Ltd and employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install on Internet browsers (Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox) without users' consent.
After successful installation on these browsers, BlockIt monitors users' Internet browsing activity by recording various software and hardware information, which can be personally identifiable including, for example, URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries entered, IP and MAC addresses, locations, and other similar details.
Furthermore, this rogue browser plug-in generates various intrusive online advertisements such as sponsored links, banners, deals, and pop-up ads.
This behavior may lead to serious privacy issues or malware infections. To prevent children from entering harmful websites, we suggest using legitimate anti-spyware and anti-virus suites (which include parental controls), rather than unidentified browser extensions.
While BlockIt does not directly lead to malware or virus infections, ads caused by this rogue browser add-on are likely to be infective. Inadvertent installation of other unwanted browser toolbars and plugins similar to BlockIt (such as Shieldren, SaferSurf, and BlackLister) can be prevented by closely observing the process of freeware download and installation.
Computer users should decline installation of any advertised applications. Most browser plug-ins, which employ bundling as an promotional method, cause random redirects or intrusive online advertisements.
Most adware is distributed via small programs called 'download clients' within freeware download websites (such as download.com, soft32.com, softonic.com, and many others). Download clients are used to generate income for these websites' free services by offering installation of advertised browser add-ons together with the chosen free software.
Thus, careless download and installation of freeware often leads to adware or malware infections. To avoid infecting your computer with BlockIt, or other potentially unwanted applications, pay close attention during the download of freeware and never accept offers to install additional programs.
If you are installing downloaded software, select the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options - this will reveal any hidden applications attempting infiltration, and you will be able to decline them. Users who have installed BlockIt should follow this removal guide to eliminate it from their Internet browsers.
The BlockIt potentially unwanted application generates ads from the following sources: Dealply, Superfish, Jollywallet, Text Enhance, GetDeal, Daily Offer Service, IRobinhood, PriceSparrow, CouponBuddy, advertise.com, Verti technologies, Alerta Descontos, Snappyimages, VitruvianLeads, NoProblem, foxydeal, and Taboola.
