Web Monitor Virus

What is Web Monitor?
Created by Inject LLC, the Web Monitor rogue browser add-on is compatible with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. This browser plug-in claims to enhance the Internet browsing experience by enabling users to view analysis of websites and determine how they track browsing activity.
On initial inspection, this may seem legitimate functionality, however, users should be aware that Web Monitor is considered to be adware or a potentially unwanted application. The add-on uses a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to stealthily install on browsers without users' consent.
Following successful infiltration, it generates various intrusive advertisements such as interstitial, search, and text-link ads.
In addition, this rogue browser plug-in continually monitors users' Internet browsing activity by recording various hardware and software information including IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, operating systems, browser types, search queries entered, URLs visited, and other similar information.
This behavior may lead to serious privacy issues or malware infections. There are many rogue browser extensions similar to Web Monitor including, for example, Theater Mode, Spy Lookout, and Mood Tube.
These browser plug-ins claim to improve the quality of users' Internet browsing experience by enabling certain functions, however, neither Web Monitor, nor any other of these add-ons deliver any real value for the user - their main purpose is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online advertisements.
For these reasons, you are strongly advised to remove adware such as Web Monitor from your Internet browser/s. Research shows that adware infections are often caused by reckless download and installation of free software from freeware download websites such as download.com, softonic.com, soft32.com, and many others.
Most of these websites employ small download programs (download clients) to monetize their free services by offering installation of advertised browser plug-ins together with the chosen free software.
To avoid installation of Web Monitor, or other potentially unwanted applications, closely inspect each step of the freeware download process and click the 'Decline' button when installation of additional applications is offered.
During installation of downloaded software, choose the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Regular' or 'Quick' - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for stealth installation, and you will be able to decline them. Users who have already installed Web Monitor should follow this removal guide to remove it from their Internet browser/s.
