Spy Lookout Virus

What is Spy Lookout?
Spy Lookout is a potentially unwanted application, which claims to improve the quality of users' Internet browsing experience by displaying how websites track their information. Although Spy lookout may seem a legitimate browser extension, it is categorized as adware.
Spy Lookout was developed by a company called Coffee and Comfort Apps LLC and is optimized for Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. This add-on employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install on browsers without users' consent.
Following successful infiltration, Spy Lookout generates various intrusive advertisements including interstitial, banner, and in-text advertisements.
In addition, this potentially unwanted browser extension monitors users' Internet browsing activity by recording hardware and software information such as IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, browser types, operating systems, web page URLs visited, search queries entered, and other similar information.
Having Spy Lookout installed on your PC may lead to serious privacy issues, identity theft, or malware infections. There are many browser extensions similar to Spy Lookout including, for example, Radsteroids, Tube Dimmer, and Websteroids.
These plug-ins claim to improve users' Internet browsing experience by adding useful functionality, yet none of these add-ons provide any real value for the user. The actual purpose of these browser plugins is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online advertisements. For these reasons, you are advised to eliminate Spy Lookout from your Internet browser/s.
Adware such as Spy Lookout commonly infiltrates browsers during the download of freeware. Internet users should be aware that most current freeware download websites (for example, download.com, soft32.com, and softonic.com) employ 'download clients' to monetize their free services.
Download clients are small programs offering installation of advertised browser extensions along with the chosen free software. Thus, careless download and installation of freeware may lead to adware infections.
To prevent installation of Spy Lookout, or other adware, pay close attention during the download of free software and decline installation of any advertised browser extensions.
When installing downloaded software, choose the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Typical' or 'Quick' - this will reveal applications bundled within the setup, and you will be able to decline them. Computer users who have already installed Spy Lookout should follow this removal guide to remove it from their Internet browser/s.
