KODA Virus

What is KODA?
Any message displayed by Koda, stating that your computer has been blocked ("Din computer er blevet låst"), is a scam created by cyber criminals. In fact, Koda (a non-profit collective rights management society that administers Danish and international copyrights for music creators and publishers) does not send messages such as this.
Fake messages are, however, created by cyber criminals with the intention of tricking unsuspecting PC users into paying a bogus 1000 DKK fine for supposed copyright law violations.
This fake message states that the computer lock was applied, since the user has downloaded copyrighted music fines from the Internet. These statements are false and made only to scare PC users.
This type of scam is called ransomware. This particular variant originates from a family called Gimemo, targeting computer users from Denmark. Note that neither Koda nor the Danish Police (Politi) are related to this message - it is a scam. Do not trust this message or pay any fines.
Using PaySafeCard to pay this bogus fine will result in lost money and no guarantee that your PC will be 'unlocked'.
Koda is just one of many organizations whose names are exploited by Cyber criminals in order to extort money from unsuspecting PC users.
Ransomware infections from the Gimemo family use Buma Stemra, Tono, Luxorr and the names of other legitimate organizations to trick computer users from various countries into paying bogus fines for alleged copyright law violations. Ransomware infections are a consequence of security vulnerabilities present on computer systems.
To prevent infiltration, keep your computer safe by using legitimate antivirus and anti-spyware software. Also, keep your operating system and installed software up-to-date. If your PC is already infected with the Koda PaySafeCard virus, use the removal guide provided to eliminate this scam from your system.
