TheSearchConverters browser hijacker in detail
TheSearchConverters promotes thesearchconverters.com by making it as a homepage, default search engine, and new tab URL. Thesearchconverters.com is a fake search engine because it shows results generated by Yahoo (search.yahoo.com), searchlee.com, and possibly some other search engines.
Search.yahoo.com is a legitimate search engine, but searchlee.com might generate misleading results - it may promote websites designed to trick visitors into providing sensitive information, downloading (and installing) browser hijackers, adware, and other unwanted software, etc.
Additionally, TheSearchConverters browser hijacker might be designed to collect various information. It may be targeting IP addresses, visited pages, entered search queries (and other browsing-related data), credit card details, usernames, passwords, or other data that its developers could misuse for malicious purposes.

TheSearchConverters in general
TheSearchConverters promotes a fake search engine. Users cannot remove thesearchconverters.com from the hijacked browser's settings unless they uninstall the TheSearchConverters application. Most of these apps have similar qualities. Some examples of other browser hijackers are SearchStreamz, TopGameSearch, and StreamSearchApp.
How did TheSearchConverters install on my computer?
Browser hijackers can be found inside other programs (in their downloaders and installers). Users download and install browser hijackers through downloaders and installers for other programs when they leave "Custom", "Manual", "Advanced" or similar settings unchanged, or available checkboxes ticked.
Also, apps of this type can be distributed through shady advertisements and third-party, fake installers available for download on untrustworthy websites. Users download unwanted apps through ads by clicking on ads designed to run certain scripts. Ads of this kind appear on deceptive websites.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Users should download software (and files) from official, trustworthy websites via direct download links and avoid using third-party downloaders, installers, Peer-to-Peer networks, unofficial websites, and so on.
Also, users should not finish downloads and installations without checking downloaders and installers for "Advanced", "Custom" and other settings that could be used to deselect unwanted apps. Ads on shady pages should not be clicked as well.
If your computer is already infected with TheSearchConverters, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
