How to remove the PracticalProcesser unwanted app
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is PracticalProcesser?
PracticalProcesser is a browser hijacker and aware-type app: it changes certain browser settings to 0yrvtrh.com or adjustablesample.com, and serves advertisements.
PracticalProcesser can also access sensitive information. In most cases, users download and install adware and browser hijackers inadvertently and, therefore, apps of this type are categorized as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).
Adware-type applications such as PracticalProcesser serve coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups and other types of advertisements. Commonly, they open untrusted websites and sometimes cause download/installation of PUAs by executing certain scripts.
Therefore, it is not safe to click ads displayed by PracticalProcesser or other apps of this type. As mentioned, PracticalProcesser functions as adware and also as a browser hijacker. It promotes 0yrvtrh.com and adjustablesample.com (addresses of fake search engines) by changing browser settings.
PracticalProcesser changes browser settings to 0yrvtrh.com on Safari and adjustablesample.com on Chrome. Both redirect users to search.yahoo.com and displays results generated by Yahoo. Typically, browser hijackers promote fake search engines by changing browser settings such as the address of the homepage, default search engine and new tab.
Users cannot remove addresses of fake search engines from the aforementioned settings without first uninstalling the app that changed them. Research shows that PracticalProcesser can access passwords, credit card details, telephone numbers and other information.
These details could be sold to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals), misused to steal personal accounts, make fraudulent purchases, transactions, steal identities, etc., and/or misused for other malicious purposes.
Users with this app installed on browsers or computers may become victims of identity theft, suffer monetary loss, experience issues relating to online privacy/browsing safety, lose access to various accounts, etc. For these reasons, PracticalProcesser should never be downloaded or installed.

Some examples of PUAs similar to PracticalProcesser are ExpandedProgram, OperativeFraction and RunningOptimizer. Commonly, these apps are advertised as legitimate, useful, etc., however, most are designed only to generate revenue for the developers by serving ads, collecting data, and promoting fake search engines.
Therefore, remove adware and browser hijackers from browsers and operating systems immediately.
How did PracticalProcesser install on my computer?
Commonly, users download and install browser hijackers, adware-type apps and other PUAs together with other programs - when they are included in the set-ups of those programs as 'additional offers'. In most cases such offers can be declined in "Advanced", "Custom" or other settings.
Many users fail to check and change these settings when they download and install programs. By leaving default settings unchanged, they allow included apps to be downloaded and installed. This distribution method of unwanted apps is known as "bundling".
In some cases, PUAs are downloaded and installed unintentionally by clicking deceptive ads that execute certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Programs and files should be downloaded only from official websites and through direct links. Avoid third party downloaders/installers, unofficial websites, Peer-to-Peer networks such as torrent clients, eMule, etc. Check all "Custom" and "Advanced" settings and decline offers to download or install additional software.
Do not click intrusive ads that are displayed on dubious websites, since they can be designed to open untrusted pages or download/install unwanted, potentially malicious software. Remove any suspicious, unwanted extensions, plug-ins and add-ons installed on the browser, and programs of this kind installed on the operating system.
If your computer is already infected with PracticalProcesser, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
