Uninstall MyAudioTab unwanted application
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is hp.myway.com?
MyAudioTab is a browser hijacker designed by Mindspark Interactive Network. It supposedly provides quick access to various audio conversion tools. In fact, its main purpose is to promote hp.myway.com (the address of a fake search engine) by changing certain browser settings.
Typically, apps of this type collect browsing data and other information. People do not often download or install browser hijackers intentionally and, therefore, they are categorized as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).
After installation, MyAudioTab changes the address of the default search engine, homepage, and new tab to hp.myway.com so that users are forced to visit this site when they open a browser, new tab, or enter search queries into the URL bar. These search engines are classified as fake, since they either do not generate independent results or generate misleading information.
Generally, users cannot undo changes made by browser hijackers unless the software is uninstalled. Therefore, to remove hp.myway.com from the settings, MyAudioTab must first be uninstalled.
Browser hijackers also collect various browsing-related data such as addresses of visited pages, entered search queries, geolocations, and IP addresses, however, they can also gather private, sensitive information. The developers sell the data to third parties (often cyber criminals) or misuse it to generate revenue in other ways.
Users who have apps such as MyAudioTab installed on their browsers and/or computers are at risk of becoming victims of identity theft, experiencing problems relating to online privacy, browsing safety and/or other issues. Therefore, never download or install any PUAs.

There are many PUAs developed by Mindspark Interactive Network. More examples are MyDocsHere, MyTelevisionHQ and SimplePackageFinder. Generally, they promote fake search engines and collect data relating to users' browsing habits.
Commonly, browser hijackers are advertised as useful apps, and supposedly include various features, improve the browsing experience, etc., however, they are useless and can cause serious problems. If MyAudioTab or other PUAs are already installed on the browser and/or computer, remove them immediately.
How did MyAudioTab install on my computer?
PUAs are distributed by including them into the download/installation set-ups of other programs. This distribution method is known as "bundling".
Developers include PUAs as 'additional offers', which can be found in "Custom" and "Advanced" options/settings of the set-ups, however, many users fail to check and change these settings when they download and install their programs, thereby allowing PUAs to infiltrate.
In some cases, these downloads and installations are caused by clicking deceptive ads that execute certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are advised to download software and files only from legitimate, official websites and through direct links. Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g., torrent clients, eMule), third party downloaders, installers, unofficial websites, etc.) can distribute unwanted, malicious applications.
Decline offers to download or install additionally-included apps in settings such as "Advanced" and "Custom". Do not click intrusive advertisements that are displayed on dubious web pages, since they can open other untrusted pages or even cause unwanted downloads/installations.
Remove any unknown, unwanted extensions, plug-ins or add-ons installed on the browser and programs of this kind installed on the computer. If your computer is already infected with MyAudioTab, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
