Remove apps that open rpket.pro and similar web pages
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is rpket[.]pro?
rpket[.]pro is similar to redbearmobilecuisine[.]com, afunione[.]club, rdsb2[.]club and many other rogue web pages. Generally, they redirect visitors to rogue websites or display dubious content. Typically, users do not visit these pages intentionally - they are opened by installed potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).
Furthermore, PUAs often display intrusive ads and collect browsing-related information.
Typically, PUAs open pages such as rpket[.]pro in new browser windows or tabs. These rogue websites open more (about 2-3) dubious websites or load dubious content - this depends on the visitor's IP address (geolocation). Note that pages such as rpket[.]pro tend to open websites containing deceptive ads, promoting dubious software, etc.
Like many other pages of this type, rpket[.]pro attempts to deceive visitors into giving permission to show notifications using a 'clickbait' technique. It asks visitors to prove that they are not 'robots' by clicking the "Allow" button, however, this then allows rpket[.]pro to show notifications.
Typically, these web pages display notifications that contain deceptive ads, links to other untrusted pages, and dubious content. Many PUAs force users to visit pages such as rpket[.]pro, serve intrusive advertisements, and gather information. Typically, they display coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, and other advertisements.
When clicked, these tend to open untrusted websites or even execute scripts designed to download and install more unwanted software. PUAs can record details such as IP addresses, geolocations, entered search queries, addresses of visited websites, and other information of this kind.
Many PUAs can also access personal, sensitive information. The developers misuse the data to generate revenue or sell it to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who do the same. Having apps of this type installed can lead to problems relating to browsing safety, privacy, and even identity theft. Therefore, you should remove all PUAs immediately.

Commonly, developers advertise potentially unwanted apps as useful, legitimate applications that supposedly deliver various features, improve the browsing experience, etc., however, most are useless and designed only to generate revenue for developers. If a PUA is already installed on the browser and/or operating system, remove it immediately.
How did adware install on my computer?
Most users download and install PUAs unintentionally by clicking deceptive ads or when they download/install other software. These unwanted, downloads and installations with other programs happen when developers include PUAs into software set-ups. This distribution method is called "bundling".
Usually, additionally-included apps can be found listed in settings such as "Custom", "Advanced" or others. Users who leave these settings unchanged when they download and/or their required software often allow included PUAs to infiltrate. Deceptive ads also cause unwanted downloads and installations when they execute certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Software and files should be downloaded from official websites and through direct links. Other channels, tools such as third party downloaders (and installers), Peer-to-Peer networks (torrent clients, eMule, etc.), and unofficial websites should not be used.
Check all download and installation settings such as "Custom" and "Advanced" and decline offers to download or install additionally-included apps before completing the process. Do not click advertisements that appear on dubious websites, since these lead to other pages of this kind or even cause download/installations of PUAs.
Remove any unwanted, suspicious extensions, plug-ins, and add-ons installed on the browser, and programs of this kind installed on the computer. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
