How to stop redirects to and from qbirix.com
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is qbirix[.]com?
qbirix[.]com is a rogue website sharing many similarities with secret-video.online, cmilg.pro, easymedia2.com and countless others. It operates by presenting visitors with dubious content and/or redirecting them to other untrustworthy, even malicious web pages.
At the time of research, qbirix[.]com has been observed promoting (i.e., redirecting to) phishing/scam sites. Few users enter this web page intentionally - most are redirected by intrusive advertisements or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already infiltrated into the system.
Following successful installation, these apps cause redirects, run intrusive ad campaigns and gather browsing-related information.
Typically, the behavior of rogue websites is dependent on visitors' geolocations. They learn this information by checking their IP addresses. According to their geolocations, visitors are presented with dubious material and/or are redirected elsewhere.
The qbirix[.]com site uses browser notifications, the consent option to which is disguised withing 'clickbait' ("Click 'Allow' To Continue"). If notifications are enabled, the web page delivers intrusive ads (e.g. pop-ups, banners, coupons, surveys, etc.).
As well as diminishing the browsing experience (slowing down browsing and overlaying pages), when clicked, these ads redirect to rogue, sale-oriented, compromised, deceptive/scam and malicious websites. Some can even be triggered (by clicking them) to execute scripts designed to download/install unwanted content (e.g. PUAs) without users' permission.
These unwanted applications force-open similarly harmful sites and can run intrusive ad campaigns. PUAs commonly have data tracking capabilities - they can monitor browsing activity (browsing and search engine histories) and collect users' personal information inferred from it (e.g. IP addresses, geolocations and other details).
It is highly likely for this sensitive data to then be shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to misuse it for profit.
To summarize, the presence of PUAs on systems can result in various infiltration and infections, serious privacy issues, financial loss and even identity theft. Therefore, to ensure device integrity and user safety, you are advised to remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

PUAs usual seem legitimate, with little to no difference from normal software. They entice users into downloading/installing them by offering "useful" functions, however, these features rarely work as advertised and, in most cases, are nonoperational. The only purpose of unwanted apps is to generate revenue for the developers at users' expense.
PUAs force-open untrusted and malicious web pages, deliver intrusive ad campaigns and track private data.
How did adware install on my computer?
PUAs proliferate through the download/installation set-ups of other programs. This deceptive marketing method of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling". By rushing download/installation processes (e.g. skipping steps and sections, using pre-set options, etc.), users risk potential infiltration and infections via bundled content.
Some PUAs have "official" download web pages. Intrusive ads also proliferate these applications - once clicked, they can execute scripts to stealthily download/install PUAs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are advised to research all products to verify their legitimacy, prior to download/installation. All downloads should be performed from official and verified sources. Peer-to-Peer sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.), free file-hosting sites and other third party downloaders are classed as untrusted download channels and should not be used.
When downloading/installing, read the terms, study all available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of additional apps, tools, features and so on. Intrusive ads may seem normal and harmless, however, they redirect to rogue websites (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating and others).
If you encounter these advertisements/redirects, inspect the system and immediately eliminate all suspicious applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
