How to remove My Flight Finder
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is My Flight Finder?
My Flight Finder is advertised as an app that allows users to access websites, which provide information about the flights of various airlines. In fact, it operates as a browser hijacker, changing browser settings and gathering information.
Typically, people do not download or install apps of this type intentionally and, for this reason, My Flight Finder is classified as potentially unwanted application (PUA).
Furthermore, developers distribute it with another PUA called Hide My Searches. Therefore, it is very likely that people who have installed My Flight Finder, also have Hide My Searches installed on their systems.
Like most browser hijackers, My Flight Finder changes settings such as the default search engine, homepage, and address of a new tab. In this case, it assigns them to search.hmyflightfinder.net (or either hp.hmyflightfinder.net, which is completely identical), the address of a fake search engine.
This search engine does not generate any unique results and, if used, simply redirects people to search.yahoo.com (a legitimate search engine created by Yahoo). Therefore, search.hmyflightfinder.net is redundant.
Typically, it is impossible to remove addresses such as search.hmyflightfinder.net from browser settings as long as the hijacker is installed on the browser and/or computer. The only way to remove this address from the settings is to uninstall My Flight Finder. This is not the only reason to uninstall the app.
In most cases, browser hijackers gather details relating to users' browsing activities. For example, IP addresses, geolocations, addresses of visited websites, entered search queries, and other data of this kind. Some sensitive, private details might also be recorded.
In any case, people who develop PUAs usually share the data with third parties (potentially cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue. To avoid becoming a victim of identity theft, experiencing problems relating to browsing safety, privacy, etc., we recommend that you uninstall My Flight Finder and Hide My searches as soon as possible. Never install PUAs in future.

My Flight Finder is similar to other browser hijackers including, for example, Live Radio Pro Tab, Online Recipes Viewer, and My Obituares App.
Unfortunately, there are many more. In most cases, these apps are promoted by offering 'useful features', however, most do not operate as promised and often cause problems. For this reason, never use PUAs or have them installed on systems/browsers.
How did My Flight Finder install on my computer?
People often download and install PUAs inadvertently through clicked intrusive ads or together with other, regular (usually free) software. To trick people into downloads and installations of unwanted apps, developers use a deceptive marketing method known as "bundling".
They include PUAs into the set-ups of other software and hide related information in "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar settings. People cause unwanted downloads and installations when they download/install software without checking and changing these settings.
PUAs can also be downloaded and installed through deceptive ads. If clicked, some ads run scripts designed to start the download or installation process of unwanted apps.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Do not download files and programs using unofficial pages, Peer-to-Peer networks such as torrent clients, eMule, third party downloaders, or other such tools. Third party installers should not be used. All software should be downloaded from official websites and using direct download links.
Check all setup settings such as "Custom", "Advanced", etc., and dismiss offers to download or install additional software. Ads displayed on dubious web pages relating to gambling, adult dating, pornography, and other similar sites should not be clicked, since this can cause redirects to untrustworthy websites and unwanted downloads/installations.
If the browser opens dubious pages or displays ads regularly, uninstall all unwanted, suspicious apps (extensions, plug-ins, add-ons), and also apply this to programs of this kind installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with My Flight Finder, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
