MyBestPrice Adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is MyBestPrice?
MyBestPrice is a browser app that supposedly allows users to search for deals and discounts, however, it is also categorized as an adware-type app that feeds users with ads. The apps are called potentially unwanted applications (PUAs), since people usually download and install them unintentionally. PUAs are often designed to record user-system information.
After installation, MyBestPrice (and other adware-type apps) start displaying intrusive ads such as coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, etc. Typically, they conceal underlying content of opened websites and, if clicked, open untrustworthy or even malicious web pages. These ads can sometimes run scripts that download and install even more unwanted applications.
Another problem is that developers use them to gather data such as IP addresses, entered search queries, URLs of visited websites, geolocations and other, browsing-related information. Furthermore, developers share the data with other parties who might be cyber criminals.
These people misuse private data to generate revenue. Installed adware-type apps might lead to unwanted installations, problems with browsing safety, privacy and other issues. We recommend that you uninstall MyBestPrice and other, similar apps immediately.

The Internet is full of adware. Some examples of other apps of this type are Clicker, CraniumCapacity Ads, and BWplayer. PUAs are often promoted as legitimate, useful programs that supposedly provide useful features. In fact, few operate as developers promise.
How did MyBestPrice install on my computer?
This app is available for download on a supposedly official website, however, people usually download and install apps of this type unintentionally by clicking deceptive ads (which can cause unwanted downloads/installations) or by downloading/installing other regular software.
Developers often bundle (include) unwanted apps into set-ups of third party, free software. They hide this information in "Custom", "Advanced" and other settings of the set-ups and hope that people will not check or change them. Leaving these settings unchanged grants permission for PAUs to be downloaded and installed together with other, regular programs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The safest way to download programs and files it to use official, trustworthy websites. Torrent clients, eMule, other Peer-to-Peer networks, various third party downloaders, dubious pages and other channels should not be trusted. Do not skip software download/installation steps without checking all included "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings/options.
Deselect offers to download or install PUAs and only then finish the setup. Note that intrusive ads cannot be trusted, especially if they are displayed on dubious pages relating to adult dating, gambling, pornography, and so on.
If redirects to untrustworthy pages and unwanted ads are an ongoing problem, check for unwanted entries (extensions, add-ons, plug-ins) installed on the browser. Remove all unwanted entries immediately. The same applies to unwanted programs installed on the operating system.
If your computer is already infected with MyBestPrice, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
