CraniumCapacity Ads Adware

What is CraniumCapacity Ads?
CraniumCapacity ads (or simply CraniumCapacity) is an adware-type application, which serves people who have it installed on their systems with various advertisements and records their browsing habits. Few people install these apps on their browsers (or computers) intentionally - they are often tricked into downloading and installing them inadvertently.
There are many ads that are displayed by different adware-type apps. For example, coupons, banners, surveys, pop-up ads, and so on. When displayed, they conceal underlying content of visited websites, and can thus be annoying and affect the browsing experience.
Another problem is that users who click them are redirected to dubious (or even malicious) websites, or these ads execute scripts designed to download/install even more potentially unwanted apps (PUAs). These downloaded/installed apps could be malicious. As mentioned, most of these apps gather details relating to users' browsing activities.
They collect data such as IP addresses, geolocations, URLs of visited websites, entered search queries and other similar information. Adware developers regularly share the data with third parties who misuse it to generate revenue. It is possible that some of these third parties will include cyber criminals. If CraniumCapacity is installed, remove it immediately.

BWplayer, Fanatical Assistant, and Free - Online Radio are just some examples of other adware-type apps. Most are promoted as tools that supposedly provide users with 'useful features' and other benefits, however, these are simply promotions used to trick people into using/installing adware. Only the developers benefit from these apps.
How did CraniumCapacity Ads install on my computer?
In many cases, software developers successfully trick users into downloading and installing adware or other PUAs using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". They achieve thus by failing to disclose information about the bundling of unwanted apps into software set-ups.
They hide the details in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings/options. If users download and install software without checking any these or other available settings, they allow PUAs to be installed as well. In other cases, unwanted downloads and installations occur when clicked intrusive ads run malicious scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Download software from trustworthy and official sources/websites. Do not use third party software downloaders/installers, torrent clients, eMule (or other Peer-to-Peer networks), or other similar channels. Check "Advanced", "Custom" and other settings of download or installation setups. Do not skip steps and dismiss offers to download or install unwanted apps.
If you encounter ads that cause redirects to dubious websites (such as gambling, pornography, adult dating etc.), it is possible that there is adware or another PUA installed on the browser. Check for unwanted extensions, plug-ins, and add-ons, and remove all unwanted, unknown or suspicious entries immediately.
Furthermore, we recommend that you check the list of programs installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with CraniumCapacity Ads, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
