Dailymailtab.com Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is dailymailtab.com?
dailymailtab.com is the address of a fake (and thus, useless) search engine. Developers promote it through a potentially unwanted application (PUA), a browser hijacker called Daily Mail Tab. This app promotes dailymailtab.com by changing browser settings and collects user-information. We advise against using this app or associated website.
Most browser hijackers can be installed on the Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer browsers. Immediately after installation, Daily Mail Tab assigns dailymailtab.com as the homepage, default search engine, and new tab URL.
Therefore, people with this app installed are forced to visit this address when they open their browsers, new tabs, or enter search queries into the browser URL bar. Daily Mail Tab reassigns these settings when attempts are made to change/undo them. The only solution is to uninstall this browser hijacker.
Note, if dailymailtab.com is used as a search engine, it provides results generated by Yahoo. Therefore, when a search query is entered, it simply redirects to search.yahoo.com. Another problem with apps of this type (and fake search engines that they promote) is that most gather information relating to users' browsing habits.
They record information such as IP addresses, geolocations, URLs of visited websites, entered search queries, and other similar data. Some PUAs might also record personal details. Developers share the gathered data with third parties who might include cyber criminals.
They misuse the data to generate revenue. These are just some reasons why you should eliminate PUAs immediately.

There are many other fake search engines similar to dailymailtab.com including, for example, searchmedia.online, feed.ebooks-club.com, and feed.searchfrit.com.
Developers present them as useful search engines, offering an enhanced browsing experience and other advantages, however, these fake sites (and browser hijackers that promote them) are useless and designed only to generate revenue for the developers. People who use them will experience problems with browsing safety, privacy, and so on.
How did Daily Mail Tab install on my computer?
Developers often hide PUAs in "Advanced", "Custom" and other options/settings of software download or installation set-ups. This is called 'bundling', a deceptive marketing method that developers use to trick people into downloading and installing unwanted apps with other, regular software.
They succeed when people download and install software (usually freeware) without checking and changing the settings. In other cases, people cause unwanted installations (and downloads) when they click intrusive advertisements. Therefore, most people download and install these unwanted apps unintentionally.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To avoid installation of potentially unwanted apps, download software from official and trustworthy websites. Avoid using third party software downloaders, torrent clients, eMule, and other Peer-to-Peer networks. Do not download from unofficial web pages.
Check "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar options of software setups and deselect offers to download/install unwanted apps. Furthermore, avoid clicking intrusive ads, even if they seem legitimate, and especially if they are displayed on dubious sites (for example, relating to pornography, adult dating, gambling, and so on).
They cause redirects to potentially malicious web pages or unwanted downloads/installations. If the default browser causes unwanted redirects or displays intrusive ads, check for unwanted/suspicious entries (extensions, plug-ins, add-ons) installed and remove them. The same applies to programs installed on the operating system.
If your computer is already infected with Daily Mail Tab, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
