Feed.ebooks-club.com Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is feed.ebooks-club.com?
feed.ebooks-club.com is another fake search engine. As with other sites of this type, it is presented as 'useful' - supposedly providing fast searches, accurate results, and so on.
These search engines are often promoted through potentially unwanted applications (PUAs), browser hijackers. In this case, the hijacker is an app called E-Books Club. This PUA collects data and changes browser settings.
Browser hijackers can usually be installed on popular browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer. When the E-Books Club app is installed, it changes the browser settings by assigning feed.ebooks-club.com as the default search engine, homepage, and new tab URL.
Therefore, users with this browser hijacker installed on their browsers are forced to visit this page when a browser or new tab is opened, or the URL bar is used to search. It is impossible to undo these changes, unless E-Books Club is uninstalled. Furthermore, there is no point in using feed.ebooks-club.com as a search engine, since it displays results generated by Yahoo.
If a search query is entered, it simply redirects users to search.yahoo.com. Furthermore, most browser hijackers, and fake search engines that they promote, operate as data tracking tools. These PUAs gather information relating to users' browsing habits, such as URLs of visited websites, entered search queries, geolocations, IP addresses, etc.
They sometimes also record personal/sensitive details. PUA developers share the information with other parties, often cyber criminals. Whoever receives the recorded data misuses it to generate revenue. Remove any PUAs from your system immediately, since they can cause issues relating to online privacy, browsing safety, and even lead to identity theft.

The internet is full of dubious, fake search engines. Some examples of others of this type are feed.searchfrit.com, mapsnow.co, and yatab.net. Most are promoted as legitimate and useful tools to search, however, they deliver no real real value and simply cause problems. Only the developers benefit from fake search engines.
How did E-Books Club install on my computer?
Potentially unwanted apps are sometimes promoted on their supposedly 'official' websites, however, most users download and install them inadvertently through intrusive ads displayed on dubious pages or when software developers bundle them with other software.
Bundling is a deceptive marketing method used to trick users into downloading/installing potentially unwanted apps together with other software that they download or install intentionally. Developers hide information regarding the inclusion of PUAs in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar parts of the download or installation set-ups.
The details are not properly disclosed. In most cases unwanted downloads and installations happen when users leave default download/installation settings unchecked and unchanged.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Download software using official and trustworthy sources (websites). Avoid using third party software downloaders/installers and torrents, eMule or other Peer-to-Peer networks, and other tools of this kind. These tools are often monetized by promoting potentially unwanted software. Do not hurry when downloading or installing software.
Study each step carefully, check "Custom, "Advanced" settings, and decline offers to download or install PUAs. Avoid clicking intrusive ads, especially on dubious pages. When clicked, they usually redirect people to untrustworthy websites such as gambling, pornography, adult dating, etc.
If you experience these redirects, or intrusive ads appear on visited websites, this might be due to installed unwanted apps. Check the browser for unwanted extensions, plug-ins, and add-ons and remove them immediately. The same applies to unwanted programs installed on your computer.
If your computer is already infected with E-Books Club, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
