Livestream123.info POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is livestream123.info?
Identical (or very similar) to mediawhirl.net, invictioner.club, digitalmerkat.com, and many other rogue websites of this type, livestream123.info causes redirects to other untrustworthy sites. Most visitors arrive at livestream123.info inadvertently - they are forced to visit it by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) that are often installed inadvertently.
PUAs also deliver intrusive ads, gather data and, in some cases, affect computer performance by misusing resources.
When installed, potentially unwanted applications force browsers to periodically open new windows/tabs and redirect users to livestream123.info, which then redirects to even more (about two or three) untrustworthy websites that might contain malicious content and cause high-risk computer infections.
In some cases, PUAs trigger background processes that reduce computer performance. There are more serious problems caused by potentially unwanted applications, such as intrusive ads and information tracking.
Most PUAs deploy intrusive ads (surveys, pop-ups, coupons, banners, etc.) that are displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site and conceal underlying content. Clicking these ads risks redirection to untrustworthy websites.
Some ads of this type execute scripts designed to download and install potentially unwanted applications or malware that might cause computer infections.
Furthermore, most PUAs generate revenue by collecting and sharing (selling) information such as IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, keystrokes, search queries, visited websites, geo-locations, and other data that often includes sensitive/personally identifiable information.
The details are often passed to cyber criminals, and thus users could encounter various privacy/browsing safety issues or even identity theft. Therefore, we advise you to remove all installed PUAs immediately.

Most potentially unwanted applications supposedly provide useful features, however, they are designed only to generate revenue by collecting and sharing information, causing unwanted redirects, and delivering intrusive advertisements.
As a rule, PUAs deliver none of the functionality promised or give any other real value for regular users. On the contrary, they cause problems relating to online privacy, browsing, and computer safety.
How did adware install on my computer?
Potentially unwanted applications often have official websites where they can be downloaded free of charge, however, most users install them through intrusive ads or when the "bundling" method is used. Bundling is a deceptive marketing method used by developers to install potentially unwanted applications together with regular software (usually free and ad-supportive).
Developers tend to hide PUAs within "Custom", "Advanced", "Manual", and other similar settings/options of the installation processes and do not disclose these installations properly. Furthermore, many users skip steps when installing software, increasing the likelihood of installing potentially unwanted applications.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Avoid using third party software downloaders or installers (and torrents) to download software. Use official, trustworthy websites/sources and direct links only. When installing software, remember to check "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar sections of the installation dialogs. Opt-out of unwanted offers, features, extras, and so on.
Only then finish the installation and proceed to the next step. Developers sometimes use checkboxes for the same purpose. If checkboxes are ticked by default, untick them (if they indicate that additional software will be installed).
Be cautious when browsing the Internet - avoid clicking intrusive ads, since they could redirect you to dubious (potentially malicious) websites (such as pornography, adult dating, gambling, etc.).
If you are redirected to an untrustworthy/suspicious website, close it and check installed programs on your computer and extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins on your web browser.
Uninstall all suspicious applications (or programs) immediately. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
